only thing that might have turned the war was the invasion of Russia... if the Germans didn't do it... and kept more of their Jewish scientists... they might well have stayed in the war in Europe long enough to develop the atomic bomb before we did and they were were well on their way for long range ballistic missiles, and with a enough jet fighters to stop the bombing campaign on the Ruhr valley industrial plants.

But Hitler made the decision to invade Russia... and Japan tipped his hand on declaring war with the USA... and the scientists ( except for a few ) left Germany when they could...

and that doomed Germany.

Didn't help that the Generals were infighting with each other for influence with Hitler... or that Hitler thought he was smarter than his generals because of his near bloodless take over of Austria and the Sudetenland.

And once operation Barbarossa began, Hitler kept on interfering and refused to follow the advice of the Generals.

demands were bad strategy. Nobody wanted to get on Hitler's bad side, so they went along with some of his idiotic strategies. Those who did object, for instance, to his invasion of Russia, opening up a second front, were demoted and replaced.

Sounds like just the way Trump would act if the nation was at war. He would insist on telling the generals what to do and fire those who objected.

Not all. Some continued executing Hitler's idiotic orders even as the Red Army closed on the bunker.

They knew that Hitler was giving them idiotic orders and they followed them anyway. That's what Trump wants? Jeez, it's funny if your kids aren't just about draft aged.

15. O'Reilly genius historian who got the Malmedy massacre exactly backwards.

We all remember the Malmedy smear, for which O'Reilly has never either apologized or corrected the record:

In Malmedy, as you know, U.S. forces captured S.S. forces who had their hands in the air and were unarmed and they shot them dead, you know that. That's on the record. And documented."

O'Reilly in fact had it completely reversed: At Malmedy, it was American troops who were massacred by SS guards, not the other way around.

Not only did O'Reilly never correct the insulting gaffe, a year later he repeated it:

In Malmedy, as you know, U.S. forces captured SS forces who had their hands in the air, and they were unarmed, and they shot them down. You know that. That’s on the record, been documented. In Iwo Jima, the same thing occurred. Japanese attempted to surrender, and they were burned in their caves.

Context? :
Bill O'Reilly has been so desperate to prove that the Bush administration's use of extreme tactics in the"war on terror" -- including torturing detainees and killing civilians -- that he's even been willing to smear the memories of American veterans of World War II to make that point.
