This is somewhat of a head scratcher...
Again we need more data. Are black early votes DOWN or are White votes UP pushing down the black percentage??

A call to get black voters to the polls after recent numbers show a low turnout during early voting.
Early voting is underway in Georgia, and the state has surpassed 2 million ballots submitted.
Only 26% of those votes are people of color, while white voters make up more than 30%, according to Georgia's sectary of state office.
On average, nearly 200,000 ballots are submitted across the state daily, and the lack of black voters in that number is a concern for many.
"You stand in line for Jordan and phones. Why not stand in line to vote? " Brittany Clay said.
We all know... this election will be WON or LOST by GOTV efforts.

(3,889 posts)What else is there? "People of color" kind of encompasses EVERYONE who's not white, doesn't it?

(119,835 posts)Early voting in 2020 was considerably motivated by the pandemic; do people feel the same need to vote early if they're not worried about getting covid at a crowded polling place? What really matters is that they vote, not when they vote.

(2,892 posts)This say 2 million votes the State has surpassed 2 million ballots.
Says only 26% of early voters are people of color. While White voters makeup 30%. Well according to the 2020 census POC color only make up about 35% Statewide while Whites makeup about 50%. Sounds to me like POC are over performing. Plus it's first day or two of early voting there and it's not 2020 where Trump told repubs not to vote early and the Democrats who had always voted on election day had to vote early. I suspect the later early votes will break heavily for Democrats and repubs will have less voters voting on election day then they did in 2020. Their will still be more repubs voting then Democrats on election day, but there will be significantly more Democrats voting on election day then in 2020.

(11,785 posts)I am not too worried as republicans have been pushing their voters to vote early this year.

(2,892 posts)Chatham Counties doesn't seem any worse than much of the State 30.1 which seems to be around the average for the State and Fulton is 32% The Chatham numbers could've been updated, because the first time I clicked on it it was 26.8%, but the second time it spiked to over 30% or I did something wrong.

(564 posts)I think it's not a good idea to compare numbers to 2020 because of the pandemic.
