Republicans are upset that VP Harris has "changed her position" on some issues. They use fracking as an example for

their faux outrage.

It is obvious why her position on fracking has evolved. It is part of a solution to a transition to clean energy, just like the internal combustion engine, hybrids, etc.

The republicans obviously prefer people like trump who don't change their position, but double down on racism, sexism, and autocracy.

That is who they are.

They have a deep unwillingness and inability to evolve or change an opinion about anything. This could be why they are wedded to living in the past. Change frightens them. And they think there is something wrong with people who do evolve and change. It perplexes me.
I look at my own life and think of all the things I have changed my mind about; small little personal things and big global things...I can't imagine stubbornly refusing to grow.

You don't need to outlaw it. Directional drilling with fracking is simply an expensive way to get energy, and you don't really get much for very long. Most of these wells do not produce for very long, on average their productive lifespan is 1/4 or less than a conventional well, years, not decades.

It is very simple, renewables are less expensive sources of energy in the current market. As more renewables come on-line and vehicles electrify, the cost of energy will simply be lower than the price where fracked oil can be produced at a profit. If there is no money in it, businesses will just stop doing it. You do not have to ban it, the cost to recover smaller and less productive resources will do that naturally.

I signed a 5 year lease for $3000 and a 5 year extension for another $3000. They completed drilling and fracking a well under my 1/2-acre lot in late 2022. I received royalties starting in October 2022. The last part of 2022 through 2023 I received a total of $3900. The checks have rapidly diminished where this year I have only received around $500. So far on the 1/2 acre I have received around $10500 total. Early on you get a nice check for a lease and royalties but the royalties drop rapidly.
I have another 2/3 acre of ground a few miles away, so far I have signed 3 5 year leases on it for a total of $9500. They still
haven't drilled that property. As you can see if you have a small farm you are now a millionaire and sadly most are Republicans now..

“We don’t like him, but we like his “policies“. Policies change according to circumstances, and the smart leader, adjusts and compromises. However, principles and values do not change. And Trump has always been unprincipled and a rapist. He is never going to be a better person

In other words, to refuse to change your opinion despite evidence to the contrary is stupid . . . that is to say, MAGA Trump.

This was an "own goal" on her part.

There is no "transitioning" to clean energy. Fracking is dirty and dangerous.

This change was just to pander to voters in some places who like drinking dirty water, I guess.
