"SNIP...........
Outgoing Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) said former President Trump has hurt the Republican Partys ability to compete and that the MAGA movement is completely wrong.
I think Trump was the biggest factor in changing the Republican Party from what Ronald Reagan viewed and he wouldnt recognize today, McConnell said, according to a new biography penned by Michael Tackett of The Associated Press.
............
McConnell said Trump has done a lot of damage to our partys image and our ability to compete.
Trump is appealing to people who havent been as successful as other people and providing an excuse for that, that these more successful people have somehow
cheated and you dont deserve to think of yourself as less successful because things havent been fair, McConnell said.
...........SNIP"

You did this Mitch by blocking Obama's good governance legislation. The resentment comes from things like that. Obama want to do infrastructure and other great things that would have made winners out of some of these people.

(10,114 posts)I can't be bothered to waste any of my own finite time on this planet considering the future consideration of Mitch McConnell as anything other than one of the least productive, most destructive figures in American political history.
No Mitch, you do not get to scrub off the Trump filth that you wallowed in for power's sake. That STAIN is indelible and can NEVER be washed clean again from your entire family name in perpetuity. You are FOREVER a scumbag.

(37,348 posts)Reagan kicked off his 1980 campaign by going to Philadelphia, Mississippi -- a city best known nationally as the site of the murder of civil rights workers -- and talked about "states rights." Just whose vote do you think he was courting, Mitch?
Then there was the tag team of Newt Gringrich and Rush Limbaugh, driving support for the GOP through persistent radicalizing language.
You know what "the MAGA movement" was called before it became convenient to give it another label? "The Republican Base". You've relied on these people for upwards of forty years.
You guys created an army of Ahabs because as long as they chased their white whales in directions you and the establishment wanted them to, you were fine with it. Even now you won't actually do anything about it, you'll just voice the occasional complaint and then let Democrats do all the heavy lifting. Again.

(6,843 posts)And now he has this lukewarm criticism of the MAGA movement?
He should have led the process of impeachment after Jan. 6th. Because he, and others like him, allowed Trump to get away with it, we have this whole fascist thing threatening to destroy our country.
McConnell is a lot like Trump. He only cares about himself.
