while every alarming revelation or disgusting utterance by Trump doesn't seem to move them.
It's like they are full of shit or something.

(2,481 posts)to be like them. They will castigate us for our empathy and relish our dismay at their support for the madness on display in their party.
My mother insisted on me and my sibs to get educated and raise the level of consciousness of my peer group. We were expected to seek out those who had high aspirations and learn how to do well.
It seems anathema to trumpers to acknowledge the good we work to employ. They want us to fail.
It is more than sad. It is a quagmire.

(54,039 posts)that they can feel isn't sexist or racist.
Like how they rejected Hillary because "her emails". That wasn't sexist, they insist, it was just that her decision to use a private server meant to handle non-classified information meant that she can't be trusted with classified information because a handful of classified emails passed through that server. Better to entrust classified information to a man who secretly pays to preserve his image and desperately seeks approval from dictators and has numerous businesses that could profit from transactional disclosures of classified information.
This is why they want more details about Kamala. The search for a socially acceptable excuse to reject her.
Campaigns generally aren't about details anyway, they're about vision.

(6,076 posts)I too have thought about it this way. I remember in 2016 I had a student who said she couldn't vote for Hillary Clinton because she couldn't stand the sound of Hillary's voice. Seemed like a lame thing upon which to base your decision.
I think it is a cognitive dissonance reduction strategy. For example, a person doesn't really like Trump all that much but still intends to vote for him. This should create some cognitive dissonance because their negative or ambivalent attitude towards Trump is inconsistent with their intention to vote for him. To reduce the dissonance they need to find some reason, however petty, to say that Harris is even worse. You hear this all the time from Republican officials who say they dislike a lot of the things Trump says but still support him over Harris because she is a Democrat, a socialist, etc.
The good news is, it sounds like a lot of these so-called undecideds are not very excited about voting for Trump, even though they might favor him over Harris. While they might have an intention to vote for Trump when asked about it, their lack of enthusiasm for Trump might lead them to just not vote at all.

(54,039 posts)They desperately needed the whole hunter biden scandal because Donnie is overtly heavily into nepotism and corruption and the hunter scandal allowed them to figure "both sides do it" and resolve it even though the trump grift is massive and intentional and led by Donnie's himself while Joe had nothing to do with hunter's business.
I think that's why they're pretending Harris lied about working for McDonald's, as if that's such an implausible thing. Donnie is literally the most thoroughly documented liar in history. But that would allow them to say well they both lie....
Amazing what the brain may accept as reasonable if it justifies a prejudice....

(6,076 posts)Decision making defects are a fun topic to discuss in class. Of course most of the students don't realize or admit (at first) that they are prone to the same decisional problems as the rest of us mere mortals.

I call bullshit.
The whole thing was a charade. She did exceptionally well.
With Fox you know ahead of time you are going to encounter unsubtle repug propaganda.
CNN pretends neutrality. For me, personally, what I saw last night on CNN was much worse than Fox.
I know I am being naive when I say they should be ashamed of themselves.
That was the first time in years I have watched anything on CNN. I don't need to stick my head in an overflowing toilet to know what it smells like. I'm done with those smug propagandists.

(6,076 posts)Seems to be a reasonable question. I think these undecided folks are mostly just low-information people or disinformed and mis-informed people. They act like they are unbiased, rational decision makers just needing more information on Harris in order to render their completely objective decision about who they are going to vote for. This comes off as complete nonsense to me. Why do we cater to these fools? Why does the media give them outsized voice on the state of the race? Don't get me started on the Electoral College and the quadrennial race to appeal to voters in just a handful of states.

(152 posts)when every station and every YouTube video is all Trump all the time? TV and internet are covered with him. You might be forgiven for not even knowing who he's running against.
I don't know if the media love his antics or if it generates a lot of clicks for them or what. I'll be so glad when this election is over and hopefully he'll drift away or get his own daytime show on Fox where he can have a camera pointed at him every day which is what he loves.
I'm so thoroughly sick of hearing his name and seeing him in the news. He's the absolute worst example of an American.
