Biden set to apologize to Native Americans for Indian boarding schools

The president’s apology would come less than two weeks before the election and mark the first formal acknowledgement by a U.S. president of the government’s role in atrocities against Native children.

President Joe Biden plans to formally apologize Friday for the U.S. government’s role in running hundreds of Indian boarding schools for a 150-year period that stripped Native American children of their language and culture in a systematic effort to force them to assimilate into White society, according to administration officials.

These remarks would be the first time a U.S. president has apologized for the atrocities suffered by tens of thousands of Native children who were forced to attend the boarding schools over several generations. From 1819 to 1969, the U.S. government managed or paid churches and religious groups to run more than 400 federal Indian boarding schools across 37 states.

“It’s extraordinary that President Biden is doing this,” said Interior Secretary Deb Haaland, the country’s first Native American Cabinet secretary, in an interview with The Washington Post. “It will mean the world to so many people across Indian Country.”

… any President or non Native American leader in my lifetime. He put up 1 million
acres close to the Grand Canyon as a new National Park like area to honor the original
Americans. He had Deb Haaland give control over much of the area to the local tribes.

Joe is the best President of my lifetime. He has done a great job in so many different
ways.

It is such a waste of time, lives, happiness, security, health, self actualization and money that selfish a..holes, non leaders get into power and try and run the middle class into a ditch instead of growing it. Corruption is the scourge of so many places in the world, why are people thinking of voting for it in this election with Trump?

Racism, sexism, anti intellectualism, and multi billion $ disinformation machines that
has reenforced generations of stupidity. Although on Election Day or when they are
filling out their ballots I bet you a lot of wives, sisters, mothers, and daughters will vote
blue because of abortion.

But in many cases the level of stupidity is so strong with them some of them that death
alone will stop the screaming in their skulls caused by bad neurological circuits.
