Surprise. The "secret" turned out to be nothing.

Last edited Tue Oct 29, 2024, 10:15 PM - Edit history (3)

It was like watching a couple of seven-year-olds: "We've got a secret! Na na na na na na na!"

If it was a secret, they wouldn't have been talking about it. Just another distraction.

“It’s nothing scandalous, but we’re having a ball with this. The media, their heads are exploding. ‘What is the secret?’” Johnson told a crowd of about 90 people on Monday at a rally to support GOP congressional candidate Ryan Mackenzie, after a person in the crowd asked about the comment. “It’s this thing we have about — it’s a get-out-the-vote. It’s one of our tactics on get-out-the-vote,” Johnson said.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/speaker-mike-johnson-sheds-light-secret-trump-rcna177802

Edit: it's been pointed out repeatedly that I shouldn't believe anything Johnson says. I don't -- I didn't believe there was ever a secret in the first place. It seemed like an obvious distraction as I have noted on the topic in this and other threads the past couple of days. His ham-handed response only makes it more obvious.

I do find it hilarious, however, that those chastising me for believing Johnson seem to have accepted without question that there was a secret in the first place, simply because he and Trump said so.

Kind of selective, isn't that?

I edited my post to further explain, but it was obvious that there never was a secret. Johnson's odd response only makes it more obvious.

As dumb as Trump and Johnson are, they're not going to make public their plans, especially if they differ from 2020 in any meaningful way. It was just a playground taunt. Trump has been doing stuff like that for a decade or more.

Servermsh put it perfectly in another response:

I have no doubt Trump was referring to House Republicans at least attempting to fuck things up if/when Kamala wins.

I'm sure Trump pressured Johnson the same way he pressured Pence -- and I have no doubt that Johnson would have completely capitulated.

So, the only issue is whether Johnson can/will follow through with it.

There are no grand diversions and distractions at play here -- it's just a loudmouth narcissist pulling the same crap he has ever since he first infected our politics.

And remember when Trump was playing kingmaker back when Republicans were going through House Speakers like they were tissue? You can guaran-damn-tee Trump made Johnson commit to some undemocratic shit if the 2024 election were to end up like the 2020 election...

It didn’t come from thin air.

Something happened and Trump thought they had a deal. Maybe Johnson just gave it a nod so it would go away but his statement, I would bet you dollars to donut holes, is a lie.

Trump can't help himself and exposed his "plan"...meanwhile Johnson, who is at least sane, is trying to deflect. Their plan may be nothing more than Trump calling in the night to relive his 2020 fantasies but if it's more than that, Johnson needs to look like he's in the clear

Said during an interview before he was "elected".

When they say the quiet parts out loud, believe them. They are telling you what they are about to do.

The "secret" remark was code, along with "stand back and stand by", as a precursor and instruction to to those preparing to do mayhem during the election, and beyond. Whatever chaos they plan on generating, whatever harm they intend to act out, whatever secret plans they have among people high and low, they will do outrageous and cruel things far beyond what they have performed previously.

And tried to get him to commit to fraudulent acts. It’s a different thing to say Johnson has agreed to anything. I can see Johnson telling tfg we will get out the vote and he will win trying to distract tfg while trying to stay out of jail himself. TFG’s people going to Johnson’s aides trying to push ways to overturn the election. Then tfg’s people coming back saying they talked to them. Tfg going with the idea it’s in the bag since he deludes his self. I can see all of that happening. Just like I’m sure he thought he had the votes he wanted after he talked to Raffensperger.
