Philly says #LFG. "Voter turnout is extremely high, said Philadelphia Democratic Party Chairman Robert Brady, the former congressman. Ive been doing elections for 50 years chair and Ive been chairman for 40 years and now its the highest weve ever seen for this point."

(14,835 posts)Thats good news for Kamala. I still have PTSD over 2016. I dont trust white women, and I am a white woman. I dont get why a single one would vote for IQ45, but they do.

(24,401 posts)even at this late point in the early p.m. (I had waited until the initial crush of voters came and went after the polls opened). I was surprised at how many there were, but pleasantly surprised, it's nice to see the interest there.
This bodes well I think, in MO for our team. But there were also amendments on sports betting and other stuff, but I don't think that is the main driver of getting people out. The sports betting, license revenues would go to schools in the state, as well as a gambling boat on the Lake of the Ozarks, license revenues would also go to the schools.
Neither of these two would be a huge amount of money, considering that how many schools are in the state of MO alone? Roughly 2,500 schools, so each school wouldn't receive a terrific amount of money as the Ads seem to indicate. We voted against the measures since they had the same argument for allowing the Lottery into the state of MO, and then we heard absolutely nothing about how much the schools had gotten from the lottery. Sounded kind of funny to us that they didn't say one single word about how much had been given to the schools from the Lottery (already approved).

(18 posts)It's a Blue community, but I've never seen more people voting in my precinct. A friend working there said the line was out of the gym, down the hall to the entrance, and snaking around the building into the parking lot when the polls opened at 6.
When I voted there were 2 separate lines the length of the gym to get to the registration area.
The one thing that stuck out to me was the number of women voting. Well over half the people voting were woman and I'd say 40%-50% were young women under age 30. Of course, we have Amendment 3, to overturn our draconian abortion laws, on the ballot. I have a really good feeling that this is going to be a good evening. Not for Missouri, with the exception of the abortion measure, we're too far down the rabbit hole, but for the country as a whole.

(36,066 posts)Philadelphia is one very large city on the eastern side, Pittsburgh is another not-so-large city on the western side. We've got several mid-size cities in between, and most are regular D voting centers. It's the rural red counties that give us the headaches.
But TODAY is a GOOD day. It's an AWESOME day! Pennsylvania will vote for Kamala and Tim all the way.

(4,086 posts)Its embarrassing really. My wife and daughter are working the polls and they say you can very easily tell who is voting for whom. The Trump people are seething angry for no apparent reason, belligerent and trying to cause trouble. The Harris people are happy and friendly. There are more of us than them by about 2:1 but turnout is super high.
35:37 in Philly.
