I really wish I hadn't stayed up to watch any of this.

Allread might not be a white guy from a long-established white Texas family, but in my opinion he came from a Texas tradition of large-than-life personalities that used to dominate Texas politics a couple of generations ago. We used to have a lot of those—in both parties (IMO Ann Richards was one of the last). I had thought that there were still enough Texas voters still out there who would respond to that to and give him the edge over do-nothing Cruz.

If they had a vote for succession they would win.
