The two times Trump ran against women.. he won.. the one time he lost, it was to a man.. seriously we have got to reexamine our fear of women that must be so endemic in our society..
I am exhausted,, and need some time to grieve for our loss.. I was so hopeful.. especially after the Des Moines Register Iowa Poll.. it is a great poll that picks up on voter movement.. whew.. what a miserable miserable night..

(28,834 posts)Sexism and racism, of course, but a lot of people have lost any ability they ever had to think critically, reason deductively, or separate reality from fantasy, on a wide variety of issues and topics. They just consume whatever media they're exposed to, regardless of how fake or ridiculous it is, and social media has made it exponentially worse.
People actually believed that a child sex ring was being run out of the basement of a building that didn't have a basement. They still believe it.
There was a study recently published that said that Trump supporters were more likely to believe a debunked conspiracy theory *after* it was debunked than before they were provided proof that it was false.

I had this exact conversation with my partner last night. I don't want to believe that it's this simple - and I'm fairly certain that there's more to it than that - but it's an undeniable fact.

(28,834 posts)Anti-intellectualism has always been a pet peeve of mine, and the right applies it to everything. Trump constantly insinuated that Harris was dumb because she was black and/or because she was a woman. He's like a middle-schooler on the playground. The dumb, ignorant kid who says everyone else is dumb as projection and as a defense mechanism. And people buy it.
2016 poked holes in any beliefs I had about how far our country might have progressed on issues of misogyny, primarily, and other issues like racism.
2024 blew them to smithereens.

(121,687 posts)Every one except the damn U.S. of A. To name just a few - Golda Meir, Benazir Bhutto, Indira Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher, Angela Merkel, all were respected, competent leaders. (And Mette Frederiksen refused to trade Greenland to Trump for Puerto Rico.) Both Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris were the equal of any of those women but our men didn't want no uppity wimmin settin' in the White House. Gotta have a dick in order to give a SOTU speech or sign bills into law.

There are a lot of ways in which we suck compared to just about every other advanced nation. Health care being one of the most obvious.
