Miami-Dade went from approving medical marijuana by an overwhelming majority to rejecting recreational marijuana in 2024

Miami-Dade approved medical marijuana with about 68% voting in favor of approving it in 2016.


Miami-Dade voted against legalizing recreational marijuana with about 51% voting "no" it in 2024.

Additionally, the hemp industry spent a lot of money on ads opposing the recreational one but no one spent a dime against the medical one.

Every major metropolitan county voted in favor, except Miami-Dade.

If you sample a group of random people in Florida and ask them where they thought the most potheads in Florida are located, I'm confident a majority of the responses would be Miami.

that span the political spectrum. I've never gotten a single whiff being of people being against the legalization of recreational weed.

Almost all of my colleagues and friends that vote Republican smoke weed. To see a Miami-Dade majority of Miami-Dade be against pot legalization is crazy to see!
