If we run another woman candidate next time we'll lose again, assuming there's an election at all. It's going to have to be a middle-aged white guy, as much as it hurts to say that. Maybe in 50 or 100 years, if the country still exists, it might be possible. But most of us will never see it. Almost every other country in the world has had a female head of state, including some countries you wouldn't expect (e.g., Pakistan, the Philipines, Myanmar and India). But not us.

I think it’s safe to say that we might not have another election in the conventional sense. Not unless there’s a huge reaction to Elon (it’s gonna get worse before it gets better) Musk’s promised $2 TRILLION in budget cuts. Trump voters think these tax cuts will affect welfare and foreign aid only. Wait until they see how they will personally be affected.

10 Things the Middle Class Won’t Be Able To Afford in Less Than a Decade

Caitlyn Moorhead
Wed, November 6, 2024 at 11:00 AM EST 6 min read

In a world where the financial landscape is constantly shifting, the American middle class often finds itself in a precarious position.

The cost of living is increasing across the board thanks to areas such as housing, higher education and healthcare, just to name a few. People used to find that earning a standard middle-class income could still provide comfort, but now, they find themselves living paycheck to paycheck.

Caught between the affluence of the wealthy and the struggles of the lower middle-class families and economic tiers, middle-class incomes are putting individuals in steeper financial challenges that could significantly alter their lifestyle in the coming decade. When you have to battle student loans well into the age when you should have been saving for retirement, the struggle to afford any future luxuries or even necessities starts to become overwhelming.

Here are five things that, if current trends continue, may become unaffordable for the middle class in less than 10 years.

The Wealthy and the Regressives are already licking their chops for their upcoming feast.

68. A manly man
Fri Nov 8, 2024, 02:04 PM
Nov 8

who sometimes has his big, important meetings at your house in his man den, to keep wifey from being too curious, and where the booze is located where she cannot find it. Wifey will be preparing the cookies and non stimulating goodies. She will smile and nod her head before she leaves to put the kids to bed as the nanny is leaving for the night then she is off for an exciting meeting with dirty dishes and a roughed up house. The manly men come out of the den (such a perfect name for a place for manly men). They nod as they hand her their dishes and maybe one or two will break the usual man behaviors and tell her the cookies were great as she watches them waddle and sway to their cars. She knows most of the cookies are still there but there are a lot of glasses to be washed smelling of something they refer to as booze.

It is the perfect way of things. Men gather for important decisions that affect the women in large and often difficult ways but that is the way. Women flutter around making life as easy as possible for the men folk, after all without them our nation would fall apart, and we go to sleep (when he allows it) knowing that for the rest of our lives we are never going to have to worry our pretty little heads. *sigh* Women are so lucky.

If men only knew what we know, what we think. We can tell them but they never hear it because they don't have to or they don't think there is anything important coming from our mouths.

I have been a part of a family like that, maybe not quite that bad but it feels terrible no matter how bad it is. Probably a good many of us has especially if they are getting older (less desirable and that is good because STD's are not fun).

This is what it feels like in so many households. Where we are is much better, this was mostly my childhood and probably a lot of us grew up like that and we do not forget it. If this is all we have to look forward to we may as well disappear because I will NEVER allow myself to live in an environment like that again.

*****Some of this is true for me but most of it came from friends experiences, those older than my 70. Not far away. Could easily go back to that if we do not watch out. These particular people going into our White House have little regard for women unless you are taking his slippers off before he lays down. Silly boy, you will soil the sheets I just put on and I will have to wash them again tomorrow. *sigh*

Trump's administration is going to fuck up a great many things. Picking a centrist candidate to claim the middle will be strong strategy.

Fri Nov 8, 2024, 01:12 PM

I don’t think Beshear would carry any red states except perhaps his own, but he might have a better chance of carrying swing states than Newsom.

Newsom, however, already has more national visibility, and will almost certainly be better funded than Beshear. That might put him in better position to win the nomination but I think he would have a hard time winning the election, depending on who the fascists nominate (I don’t think it will be Vance, unless he becomes the incumbent by 2028), and what they do to voting rights between now and then.

I’m guessing they may repeal the ECRA and replace it with something more fascist friendly.

...and I am 100% sure she isn't, our nominee will have to be a man. So, with that, these are who I think are likely candidates...

Josh Shapiro
Andy Beshear
Hakeem Jeffries
JB Pritzker
Gavin Newsom
Wes Moore
Corey Booker

And I don't really care who the VP is, because we do have such a deep bench, but THEY BETTER GET SOMEONE FLUENT IN SPANISH!!!!

73. Unfortunately we would lose again. The USA just is not ready yet for a woman at the top of the ticket. And if a woman

can't win there is no way a gay guy would win as much as I hate that as a fellow gay guy. We'll need to nominate a man at the top of the ticket to win in 2028. Sad but that's the reality of the USA.

Gavin Newsom
John Fetterman
Wes Moore
Andy Beshear
Ben Ray Lujan
Ruben Gallego
Alex Padilla
J.B. Spritzer
Josh Shapiro

Unfortunately, we'll have to go with a white or Latino or Black male for now.

These women are more than qualified for being at the top of the ticket and if circumstances change they should be considered at the very least for VP

Gretchen Whitmer
Laura Kelly
Amy Klobuchar
Catherine Cortez Masto
Jasmine Crocket
AOC

To be frank they all have their drawbacks and may only wind up being VP picks, but based on past experiences the nominee will be a relative unknown like Bill Clinton or Obama that we can't conceive as running. Who knows maybe it can wind up being HI governor Josh Green for all we know. He'll, let's consider Joe Kennedy III while we're at it!

He doesn't seem to be as progressive as I thought he would be. I don't see him being a good pick.

I agree with you about a female VP but we can hope a female wins the primary and picks another female as her VP.

No, I'm not joking.

The professional politician may be almost a tough a sell as anything now.

We need to get out of the box.

They have the propaganda machine.

Hell, they could run a gay trans Hispanic woman and win with their machine.

It's going to be a white man if there is a 2028 election. Perhaps Andy Beshear. There will be no more women as candidates for President. Michelle Obama doesn't want to run. I doubt VP Kamala Harris gets another shot, not if Nancy Pelosi has a say. Mcbride and Abrams have no chance. A white man beat Trump and the GOP, I have accepted that is what the party will go with

in my lifetime. (I’m a 61 year old female.) It pains me to say this, but America can just not handle the concept of electing a female to the highest office in the land.

Edited to remove the last thing I said. It’s been a week for all of us and I’m struggling.

Michelle Obama wants no part of being president. I think she is the only shoe in to win it no matter who the other side runs. If she ran as a VP with someone else at the top of the ticket I think it would be a no brainer.

I really like your list except for Michelle. But I also like Elizabeth Warren and AOC on that list. An all female ticket. Imagine AOC and Michelle running. It would be unstoppable.

unless another Obama comes along and that is unlikely also.

If Harris had won I think Buttigieg would have had a good chance afterwards. But I think he will be hurt with what happened also.

What we need is a friendly, handsome 50-year-old white Marine Corps veteran with a beautiful wife, two well-behaved children, several guns and a positive track record in business and politics.

And he needs to have a reputation for fixing things the last incumbent broke because Donald Trump plans to do to the United States what the Loizeaux Brothers did to the Kingdome.

Each of those a non-starter.

Doing the same thing over and over again never works. No, sadly, we need our own buffoon. Kidding (kind of).
