Major causes: Ignorance, apathy, laziness, plus racism and misogyny, plus religious cultism. America is not basically what I’ve thought it was my whole life. This election is like a punch to the gut rearranging my sense of what Is the essence of the USA. Those negative elements have always been here, but they have metastasized and sprung forth as a major force to destroy everything. And I don’t see how it’s going to change back. The orange villain is just the facilitator.

If you hear the same lies over and over and over x 1000 they can get you to believe anything.

Right wing media dominates. Fox 'news", Newsmax, OANN, EWTN (yes, the catholic channel), Twitter, 4-8chan, and a billion AM/FM radio stations.

For some it was surely misogyny or racism, for others, they bought into the propaganda/media failure that the economy sucked. Not sure what purpose it serves to seek to oversimplify the reasons Harris lost.

With well funded think tanks, cultivating religious wackos, brainwashing people with propaganda radio and TV. This is about the interests of the extremely wealthy, and their use any issue they can find to whip up ordinary rubes to vote against their own interests.

The issue is wealth and power for the wealthiest and most powerful.

The reason he "won" is religious fanaticism. The right wing religious extremists
think the bible myths somehow predict and require his being in the white house.
The unraveling of Roe is what codified this.

Brexit style voting. A lot of people thought they were "safe" doing a protest vote for Brexit because they thought they would lose, but wanted to make it close. They f*ed up.
Likewise, people voted for tsf thinking Kamala would win, but wanted to make it close. They are about to enter the FO stage.

That just tells me again that Democrats us seem to not be recognizing the massive amount of propaganda that Republicans, the right wing push, and all of these people who voted for Trump all see the world differently because of that misinformation. We have to correct that problem we could give out million dollars to everybody in United States, but if the Republicans are pushing propaganda that that million dollars will kill them then they won’t take it. Misinformation disinformation that is the number one reason why we lost this election.

The F***in media.

They gave tRUMP unpaided free advertising.

Refused to acknowledge Biden/Harris accomplishments.

Ignored the birder flu that wiped out entire flocks of chickens that raised the price of eggs and chicken.

Waited until 6 weeks before the election to talk about how well the economy was doing under Biden/Harris.

What drove this loss is targeted disinformation that the right wing is very good at. They flooded the social media of young and disaffected folks with a barrage of lies.
We instead relied on facts and policies. That does not work. Until we dismantle the rw propaganda machine or build one of our own to counter it we will never win the presidential elections again and likely stay in the minority in congress.

.... of course, intervention by any and all means possible direct by the GOP or at least ignored by the GOP as long as they win.

The standard state of politics since 2000.

If the GOP wins, it will be a "perfect" election. The Democrats will grumble a little and then move ahead without looking back. It seems that has been our designated role in politics since 2000.

If the Democrats win, the GOP first relies on all of the pre-election warnings that the rumors and lies were true. The election IS GOING to be stolen, we told you, and the MSM repeats the rumors and lies. When that doesn't go their way, they turn to the courts. And even when they lose 60 times in the courts. They continue the lies and have persuaded enough cult followers to believe them, so the cycle continues until the next election.

Then, who wins dictates the start of the next cycle.

Without an audit, we will never know what effect voter suppression in all its forms had on the tallies, and then, of course...

13% of 2020 Swing State Biden Voters Won't Be in 2024 Because of Gaza: Polls
The figure comes as part of a new set of polls that show former President Donald Trump narrowly leading Biden in 5 out of 6 crucial battleground states.
Olivia Rosane

May 13, 2024

Approximately 13% of poll respondents in six swing states who voted for U.S. President Joe Biden in 2020 but would not vote for him again said that his foreign policy or Israel's war on Gaza were the most important issues determining their vote.

The figure comes as part of a new set of polls released Monday from The New York Times, Siena College, and The Philadelphia Inquirer that show former President Donald Trump narrowly leading Biden in 5 out of 6 crucial battleground states.

"We have warned that this would happen for months, and the Democratic Party didn't give a damn," author and organizer Daniel Denvir wrote on social media in response to the news.

Read: https://www.commondreams.org/news/13-ex-biden-voters-gaza

bibi intentionally ramped up the slaughter as our election neared. I referred to it as election interference. He literally was trying to trigger a world war. As sickened as I was by the situation, I was hoping that voters would be willing to secure the country from trump, protect our rights and then ramp up the pressure on the Biden administration, but I guess short sighted individuals chose a different route that will help literally nobody.

Even if you factor for the usual sexism, racism, etc, if those 10 million or so voters had taken part in the election, we'd be victorious right now. In my opinion.

Presidential elections are referendums on the incumbent's performance. The people who pushed for Biden to step down should have been out there hyping his achievements, not criticizing his debate performance. It signaled a lack of confidence from which the campaign never recovered.
