'MAGA In A Nutshell': Voter's Wild Explanation For Backing Trump Goes Viral

'MAGA In A Nutshell': Voter's Wild Explanation For Backing Trump Goes Viral

A Pennsylvania man’s reasoning behind his vote for Donald Trump has gone viral and left social media users aghast.

The man’s quote was included in an article by The Philadelphia Inquirer that explored how the president-elect, buoyed by voters’ economic anxieties, won Pennsylvania despite being called a fascist.

The excerpt that went viral on social media read:

In Scranton on Wednesday, Matt Wolfson, a 45-year-old former construction worker, looked around at poverty in the Rust Belt city and thought the nation needed a change in leadership.

Wolfson said he didn’t love the dictatorial aspect of Trump’s personality, but thought it could help keep the country out of wars and maybe bring peace to some other conflicts, including in Ukraine.

“He’s good and bad. People say he’s a dictator. I believe that. I consider him like Hitler,” Wolfson said. “But I voted for the man.”

During the campaign, Trump was compared to Adolf Hitler, who started World War II by invading Poland. Trump used similar rhetoric to that of the Nazi dictator, calling opponents “vermin” and claiming that undocumented immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.”

I really wish I could introduce the Republicans of today to the Republicans I've known from 1980-2016... Because I remember what they were calling me when I spoke out against the first Gulf War, the second Gulf War, and the GWOT.

But Wolfson is evading the real answer here, which is he just felt more secure with a white man running things instead of a black woman. Doesn't even matter that he's totally incompetent... or a criminal... or a despot... or that he's functionally illiterate... or a Nazi.

Very efficient but very destructive, there aren’t any left for the year after that. Efficient isn’t always the best way to do something in fact quite often it’s the worst. Efficiency is a fascist concept. IMO

I am absolutely certain he doesn't know any Bill killed by his "new leadership" cons in Congress, like the Child Tax Credit, and he has zero idea how poverty will get astronomically worse when they will kill the ACA, deport millions of workers and inflation will skyrocket with 20% tariffs on all imports...

Billionaires will keep on getting wealthier, though, probably like they never did before.

The ignorance in the USA is winning, not the 99%.

I don’t know whether it’s lack of moral upbringing, poor teaching of history in school, inability to problem solve and think critically, or just plain stupidity. Some where this country failed its people and now it’s people have failed the country.

There is a true sense of being left behind in towns like mine and where this guy lives. I know I feel it. It's so exhausting having to compete for limited grants because the tax base isn't there to generate revenue from property taxes and businesses regularly win property tax assessment disputes that lower their taxes. Schools are chronically underfunded that is exacerbated by having to make payments to charter schools. Because there's no really good jobs or much to do, smart young people leave for greener pastures and aren't replaced. That's a formula for continued decline, not for growth or sustainability. Ironically, these are exactly the problems Bidenomics is addressing, but long term structural problems aren't solved overnight.

My home town has taken a few small steps forward, but it has taken Herculean efforts by the mayor, City council and a couple extraordinarily dedicated members of our community development corporation to pull even those small gains off.

I know Trump isn't the answer, but plenty of voters thought like this guy.

I don't know, maybe a better strategy would've been to run on Bidenomics. Maybe it would've been to Harris like fixing I95 in two weeks like Shapiro did was to him. Voters would've seen government work, not just be some abstract thing that has no impact on their daily lives.

tariffs will drive up the cost of clothing and anything made offshore and since the migrants have been deported that worked in agriculture your food will also start costing even more than twice as much.
As least your gas is cheap(er) but you probably won't be shopping all that often anyway.
