Don't get me wrong. I am cutting MAGAts out of my life. I think I can get by with skipping the 4 times a year I see my brother. I will easily skip the Barbeque invite from the Humpty-Dumpty folks next door, and cannot stomach attending Sunday Liturgy with rapist supporters...it will save me some stewardship money, but all that is easy!
Those are personal, individual choices I can make. I control who I let in my life...easy-peasy.
The individual things are simple. It's what needs to be done collectively that is hard.
I can cancel my Amazon Prime membership with a click, but unless 10's of millions join me, what's the point?
I drive the extra two mile to shop at Lowes, despite Home Depot being right down the street, but unless 10's of millions join me, it's worthless.
I NEVER shop at Kroger, even if the eggs are 10 cents cheaper. Kroger doesn't care about my individual act.
I wouldn't buy a Tesla if you put a gun to my head and gave it to me free.
AM radio stations have been broadcasting nothing but Reich-wing hate for 40 years. From Machias, ME to San Diego, CA, from Everett, WA to Key West, FL., EVERY AM Radio Station in this country has broadcasted nothing but violent Nazi propaganda 24/7/365.
I can do my best to track the advertisers on my local stations, and make sure I shop elsewhere, but without collective action....
I have said this before, but it really is pretty simple to understand.
"Nothing will change. The racism, fascism, misogyny, hatred and white supremacy...NONE OF IT will change, unless and until we make racism, fascism, misogyny, hatred and white supremacy UNPROFITABLE to the businesses, corporations and individuals that fund and enable it."
Cutting MAGAts out of my life is easy, but it isn't enough.

Keyboards dont stop people in Europe from demonstrating- they take to the streets in the thousands .
I cancelled Amazon last week. And like you will drive past Home Depot to Lowes.

(34,072 posts)I will no longer support red companies. I can easily switch Colgate for crest, persil for tide, Scott tissue instead of charmin, choose Jack in the Box instead of McDs, etc.
the trick is engaging others to do the same. Without fail.
There are a couple of FB groups that I am in with new people committing to do it everyday. Look at the exodus from Twitter to blue Sky. Its crazy.
I think you just have to commit. Even if you are the only one doing it, at least you can sleep at night.
Stout hearts. We are about to go over the cliff.

(48,358 posts)A separate peace. And in time, we may all learn how to find each other and build new organizations and friendships with like-minded people.
In America, wouldn't it be nice if we can have that? Because they have it. Through their churches.

(1,480 posts)Not this time. They have lit a slow burning fuse that will harm us all. I can't listen to the gloating, and how we should just get over it. As if this is a game. Well, it's not a game. I won't be gracious, I won't be civil. Not a damn one of them deserve a second of my time.
