Bluesky finds its wings as millions seek a better and safer platform than Elon Musk's Twitter

A Twitter-like microblogging platform that was conceived and born as a research project within Twitter before its takeover by Elon Musk and ridiculous rebanding as “X” is seeing one of its biggest growth spurts yet this week, with millions of people interested in a better, safer platform to discuss political news, sports, live events, and tech giving it perhaps the most momentum and attention that it has ever had.

To say that Bluesky is having a moment would be an understatement. As of press time, its app was the number one ranked application on Apple’s App Store in the United States, which is really something. Democratic elected officials, progressive movement leaders, and activists are all joining en masse. Savvy folks like Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are already posting regular updates and helping spur more growth.

Meanwhile, billionaire Mark Cuban summed up the sentiments of many thankful Bluesky arrivals when he posted: “Hello Less Hateful World.”
