The U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania is officially heading to a recount. The states Secretary of the Commonwealth ordered all 67 counties to count their ballots again as Republican Dave McCormicks 3,380,310 votes is within 0.5% of incumbent Democrat Bob Caseys 3,350,972, triggering a recount under the Election Code. Multiple outlets have already called the race for McCormick, but Casey has yet to concede. Read more from @SpotlightPA.

(10,599 posts)3. There's Still 80K Votes To Count
It will narrow, but probably not enough. But it should be a lot lower than 30K, especially if a lot of the ballots came from Philadelphia.

Casey can win....but there will be a recount either way lots of votes to count still

(10,667 posts)5. Thanks! We will definitely have to wait to see how close it is.
I dont think recounts make much of a difference unless it's less than a few thousand vote difference.

He is only down 26,520 votes but with 82,000 remaining to be counted - he has to take 66% to win.
Possible but not likely. Recounts tend to change the numbers slightly, but equally for each candidate.
Time to start looking at the 2026 when Rs have to protect 20 Republican seats while the Ds have to worry about 13. Sounds like fertile seat-stealing time
