NEWS: Joe Manchin is open to confirming Democratic judges who get NO GOP support, he told me today.
He previously pledged to only vote for nominees who can get at least one Republican vote.
"We're in different times right now" he told me.

(17,133 posts)Sure Joe could have been a better man, a better Democrat, however, his indecisions kept him in the spotlight. Now his spotlight is fading he can at least shed some light on our Nations Judges!

(109 posts)After he nearly single handedly blocked voting rights, abortion rights, Build Back Better? After he's done his best to torpedo Biden's agenda?
I'm honestly surprised he hasn't been offered a Trump cabinet position as a pay off for the destruction he has helped implement.

(6,345 posts)But he always voted for the Democratic power structure to run the Senate and he voted with the Democrats way more often than with Republicans.
Well, you're now stuck with Republican Jim Justice, Babydog's dad, coal baron, serial tax dodger, and the owner of one of the most famous resort hotels in the world (the Greenbrier) who didn't bother to pass his union employees' health insurance co-pays along to the insurance company. When he actually shows up for work in Washington (he spent a large part of his time as Governor 150 miles away from the state capitol, coaching a high school girls' basketball team), he'll be voting for the Republican leadership and the Republican agenda all the way.

(9,589 posts)I think if Joe Manchin had run for re-election, he likely wouldn't have survived this time around like Sherrod Brown and Jon Tester. The wind wasn't going in our favor. There are no more red state Democrats. We now have to work a lot harder to get a Senate majority than we used to.
However, even though our side bitched and complained about Joe Manchin, I was glad to have him. When it really counted, he voted with us. When Joe Biden really needed it, he voted with us.
...even though Joe Manchin couldn't shut the fuck up to save life. He just had hop in front of every fucking camera he could find to say something stupid.
