said they were excited about RFK Jr being named as HHS secretary. They weren't being sarcastic. Usually nobody says anything political, but now they are all coming out as MAGA. These are well educated people who voted for Trump.

Fri Nov 15, 2024, 11:59 AM
Nov 2024

I'm not anti-vaccinne at all and have gotten and plan to get my young daughter all the recommended vaccines from her doctor. But if there's any good thing that can come with RFK being in a health role, it's the calling out of the poisons in our food. I used to think people who were anti-GMO were crazy, but I started looking into it a little more and there's just too many things for it just to be a coincidence. For example, I wasn't alive in the 70's (was born in the 80s), but when I look at photos or videos of people from the 1970's and before that, one thing you notice is that seeing overweight people is extremely rare. Or at least severely overweight, as in more than 20 pounds overweight. Almost everyone I have seen from that era and before was super thin. And I don't buy that there was no lazy people in the 70s, or that they all ate healthy home cooked meals every day, and they all worked out regularly at the gym. That's gotta be bs, because in most other ways they weren't very health concious at all. The majority of them were smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day, and drinking a lot more alcohol than Americans do today. Mcdonald's was also huge in the 60's and 70's. People ate it like crazy. The difference? It's not the same mcdonalds. They fried the french fries and other food in beef tallow back then instead of whatever weird lab created vegetable oil that they use now.

But the timeline really makes sense in the grand scheme of things. We started using bioengineering in food in the early 80s, and it really took off in the 90's and beyond. Which is the exact timeline of when obesity rates started to skyrocket in this country. One of the arguments against GMO is that your body doesn't fully recognize it as food and doesn't process it the same way that it does with natural food, which causes you to eat more of it as the body is trying to get something that's not found in the food you are eating, so you don't feel satisfied and it causes you to overeat.

The fact that most of Europe has banned bioengineered ingredients in their foods should really tell you something as well. It's something that should be looked into very hard. But since the reason they started using these ingredients in the first place was to cut costs and increase profits, banning bioengineered ingredients will likely increase costs of food though. Which is already really expensive. But I think it's a price that might be worth paying to save the health of our children and our country.

I understand trying to exercise and eat healthier, but not everyone can afford grass fed beef and shopping only organic (even if out of season) at "health food" stores, or extolling the virtues of pricy supplements. I work with some coworkers that lecture about their health routines. I especially love these same coworkers drinking sugary bought coffee drinks and processed frozen meals from Trader Joe's, and lecturing me about their work outs and gym membership. RFK appeals to them I suppose.

Seriously. Theses aren't MAGA people, but they're just as dedicated to Fringe and Conspiracy thinking as RWNJs.
You know, these are lefties (not liberals) who bring cardboard tasting Soy, Kale and Pepitas casserole (base of oatmeal gruel) without even a decent pepper sauce to pour over to the company potluck while pretending they're good vegetarians who eat this at home all the time.
Disclaimer - The vegan dish was brought to the potluck by the disliked head of HR - an billboard "lefty" into CrossFit - and he snarled at everyone the next week because no one ate it after a taste; I remade it -still vegan -for the next potluck (adding home pickled artichoke hearts, sauteed mushrooms, citrus zest, balancing spices and a mild chili sauce) and it was gone in 5 minutes.

Remember, "Left" does not always mean Liberal or Progressive.
There are some pretty hardcore Lefties who are just as unwilling to accommodate other traditional Leftist policies because they don't fit in a narrowly focused Overton window.
