From here, it looks like we have exactly one way out of this mess that leaves enough of a country to salvage

It's a longshot. And it sucks. Here we go.

If TSF's radically insane personnel and policy decisions have an immediate brutally-negative widespread effect (quite likely for some of them) that all can see and few would bother trying to deny, and a vast majority (like 85%+) of the population aligns hard against TSF, such that the Republican congress fears a backlash supermajority in 2026, there might be enough pressure to impeach and remove TSF from office while erecting some basic guard rails to constrain his successors before he burns down everything worth preserving.

Like I said, longshot. It won't happen. Also the only way out AFAICT.

Vance agrees to uphold the big lie (he did), and WHEN Trump steps down, he gets a pardon, all the secrets, and half the treasury.

With the secrets, he gets to negotiate with all the world leaders like a Bond villain.

AND he gets to be richer than Musk, with all that entails.

Trump cultists will never see him for what he is, or blame him with anything bad that happens. Their support of him is entirely based on faith and no evidence will change their minds. It's a religion, and religious beliefs aren't rational, by definition.

US population 262 mil age 18+ adults
76.5 mil voted R 29%
73.7 mil voted D 28%
150.2 voted 57%
111.8 mil not voted 43%

That 43% is a big problem. They keep us from decisively getting stuff done.

I have ZERO faith in humanity to do the right thing when the social contract was broken earlier this month. Lawlessness went unpunished; now it will reign supreme. At the highest levels.

I've never really been part of this "Rah rah USA" patriotica shit anyway. I don't have a military or cop fetish. I'm a police abuse survivor. There's so many people on the edges and margins of society who cannot function with the rest of you. I am one of them. Many of us just want to live in poverty with as much dignity as possible and don't expect anything except basic survival. It's always been on the table, but the thin membrane of a safety net will disappear. These are evil villains and they are minding the store now.
