After every general election the requests are deleted and a voter has to re-request a mail in ballot
Florida voters need to request now, before the next election of any kind.

(18,837 posts)Floridians have done this for a decade or more. Like car registration renewal, mail in ballot renewal is part of every persons schedule.

(16,498 posts)Now Florida will not. But if the voter only thinks about requesting one before the General, they won't get one for the Primaries and special elections.
They will need to get in the habit of doing it before the primaries etc.
MY thought is will this cause ballots to also be sent to previous locations if the person moves between elections.
Personally I think it is best to have to request one before each election

(16,498 posts)it will bite them when the R voters forget.
In Arkansas it used to be before the elections the conservatives "Polled" the grave yards and voted with their names of the recently deceased.
This may still be going on with the instant voter registration in some states.

Heard enough?
Then, one more thing.
It's not the only tool, and they will continue to steal elections as long as we let them.

"All registered voters in Michigan have the right to vote by mail using an absentee ballot delivered to their home. Voters can also request an absentee ballot directly from their local clerks office. Absentee ballots are available beginning 40 days prior to every election."
In other words, you would make a new request every time.
However, we also have this:
"Michigan voters can decide to be placed on a permanent absentee ballot list. Their local clerk will then automatically mail them an absentee ballot for all local, state, and federal elections."
