In short, the WSJ's editorial board is saying feel free to fuck up the entire federal govt, but do not fuck with our money.

(3,812 posts)that those who thought Trump was joking are about to find out. Trump was restrained to some degree the first time around, only deploying his crazy on select targets. This time the crazy is going to be unleashed across the board - and it's going to have far ranging and unintended effects - including on many of those who thought they would be exempt.

They still are stupid/ignorant enough to not begin to realize that when Trump said: "Vote for me, and you will never have to vote again", in all actuality meant future voting will be totally corrupted by the RepubliCONs and that their vote will no longer matter.....
Welcome to the "Nuevo" RepliCONs, Corporate Tyranny of America..............or maybe United Corporations of America......

(6,070 posts)For some reason it's been a particular object of hatred for the RW loons. Expect attempts by know-nothings to gut the USDA except perhaps for the parts that facilitate agricultural exports (because other countries aren't as stupid as the US and don't want our pests and diseases).
I used to know several USDA employees with great jobs (relatively high salaries, excellent benefits) that were enthusiastic red don supporters. I still remember how relieved they were that the country dodged a bullet when Hillary didn't become president. Wonder how they feel now. Bunch of ignorant dumbasses, they were.

Right now, it looks like the goal is to destroy as much of our economic successes as possible. Why? Idk. Do they want to buy distressed property cheap? Do they hate the United States this badly? Ignorance? Arrogance?
It doesnt really matter why. Stupid destructive crapola is coming.

All the horrors you can imagine for immigrant farm workers and nobody to care if they die while trying to work.
Basically the notion is to turn the farm into a Pullmans village during harvest and planting season so the workers owe all of their wages to the company store and some dont survive the experience.

(6,940 posts)I don't think the WSJ understands what it is that Donald Trump wants to succeed at.
Also, Musk contributed over 100 million dollars to Trump's campaign. He's going to reward Musk, even if it hurts a whole lot of people; something Musk has already says will happen.
So, Musk obviously plans to sell high before the shit hits the fan, and then buy at bargain prices after the crash.
The rich can get richer in times of economic turmoil if they know what's coming. And, Musk knows what his plans and actions will do to the economy.

(21,745 posts)I think people have to realize that Musk and Trump want to blow it all up, not because they don't think the system works for regular people, but because they think it works too well for regular people. Republicans think working people have it too easy, they think people are lazy and need to work harder for less.
Their whole goal for blowing it all up is to make it easier for the rich to benefit the most from a new system and to ensure the rich have the benefit of preying on working people without government inteference.
That's what this is all about, the rich got sick of draining the working class little by little and decided to take it all at once.

(66,364 posts)that word "hardship". It's very criminal of them to loot our ACA, SS and other initiatives we have had. All they do is lie, cheat and steal, I hope that they choke on that greed. They have no respect for us whatsoever. They think we are all ignorant (some are).

Wait until they come to the realization that money itself is an abstraction, created out of thin air, to give us an illusion of material importance and to ultimately delineate class structures. (Spoiler alert...they won't)

(7,941 posts)She announced £45 billion in unfunded tax cuts with no underlying economic analysis in a mini-budget that cratered the financial markets, slashed the value of the pound, raised mortgage rates and boosted inflation. (3,242 posts)Also, I remember when the media used "Mr." Trump instead of "president" Trump in articles and the right-wing lost their shit each time. I don't hear much complaining nowadays when the WSJ does this - even though it's in the style guides of every newsroom: Use "president" at the first mention, then "Mr." after that.

History tells us this never works, but Musk might think he knows better.
The 'sincere concerns' about the implications of a Trump presidency come a bit late though.
Where was this insight before the election?

(9,358 posts)That is exactly what Elon Musk wants. He thinks once the economy is "blown up" it can be rebuilt and people will eventually be okay with the new economy. I think he is wrong.

(4,095 posts)About Trump doing evil things with terrible Cabinet members.
Its simply this - Trump is a Jinx. He ran casinos into bankruptcy which is hard to do. He blew through the 400+ million his daddy left him and the stuff he stole from his brother.
Everything he touches dies - is so spot on, but who would have thought that he could destroy a nation?
