Chinese ship Yi Peng captained by a Russian is the main suspect in cutting telcom cables

BREAKING:

The Chinese ship Yi Peng is the main suspect in the investigation into who cut two undersea telecom cables between Finland-Germany and Sweden-Lithuania.

The ship sailed right over the cables when they were cut at 8am GMT on Sunday and 2am GMT on Monday.

So - according to Russian federal port records, the Chinese ship suspected of cutting the communications cables in the Baltic Sea was captained by a Russian citizen (one Stechentsev A.E.). Interestingly Yui Peng 3 was only transferred to its current owner in China earlier this month.

The ship is carrying goods/oil from Ust-Luga in Russia, to Port Said in Egypt. Same captain also comandeered URSUS ARCTOS also carrying goods from Ust-Luga to Egypt. Mapped using @SensusQ.

Full name should be Stechentsev, Alexander Evgenievich (Стеченцев Александр Евгеньевич

. A person of the same name was found in Russian court records disputing missed pay from the company OOO "Albatros". That company provides services in the port of Ust-Luga. Our guy might have been a pilot for the intial part out of port or the full journey.

A pilot is going to know the bottom of a body of water better than anyone - it's their job to do so. He probably knew exactly where the cable was.

China's been attempting to have its cake and eat it too. They have supposedly had buyer's remorse about that nebulous "Deal" they made that China and Russia would support each other unconditionally. (I am thinking in particular of an article that I think The Conversation published last month).

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but this has to cause a lot of embarrassment to Xi.

...paths for communication that could be more easily compromised? I don't know how much redundancy is built into the system.
