(15,673 posts)Or whatever scheme is afoot. He could retire with "bone spurs", drain half the treasury, and keep a mansion full of secrets to auction off like some Bond villain (scenes come to mind). And kinda rule the world as an independent power.

Trump isn't interested in the Bidens any way.
Trump is focused solely on money and power.

(15,037 posts)A show trial where a former President fights back would how the world what Trump really is. We need courage, my friends. Joe should pardon his son, however.

(18,916 posts)Don't have time to grab articles, but the quote from the 1915 decision that says a pardon is an admission of guilt is dicta, it has never been binding.

Its a quote that made Gerald Ford feel better about his betrayal, thats about it.

(29,935 posts)Effectively you are saying you dont have a link.
So why should I research something you claim.
Anyway, its just a normal question here on DU. Not in anyway a demand.

(5,931 posts)To be pardoned? And then admit your guilt to accept the pardon?
None of that has happened in Bidens case. So if that is true, he cant pardon himself if hasnt been charged and convicted, correct? Or maybe I am misunderstanding something?? Fill me in.

(26,087 posts)From Wikipedia:
Proclamation 4311 was a presidential proclamation issued by President of the United States Gerald Ford on September 8, 1974, granting a full and unconditional pardon to Richard Nixon, his predecessor, for any crimes that he might have committed against the United States as president.[

(29,331 posts)On the other hand, if Joe pardons himself, well, it certainly doesn't make him look innocent of wrongdoing (which, of course, he is).

I think Biden should pardon Hunter for the gun charge and tax issue. Hunter already admitted guilt once and agreed to pay the back taxes and a fine. He was an addict and lied to get a gun he possessed for a few weeks during which he committed no crime with the weapon. Make the pardon very specific.
I would also issue a blanket pardon for government workers performing their official duties...kind of like the BS SCOTUS Trump immunity ruling. It would delay any cases and waste tons of money and resources in first determining if what is being alleged was in fact part of an official duty, or reasonably thought to be part of an official duty when directed perform it, or not.
