Ukraine has fired British-made Storm Shadow missiles into Russia for the first time.

Twelve of the long-range missiles were fired into Kursk, a region partially held by Ukrainian forces, according to Russian channels, which posted photographs of fragments of metal with the words Storm Shadow stencilled on them.

The fragments were said to have been found by residents in the village of Marino.

It comes after Sir Keir Starmer said Kyiv must “have what it needs” to win the war in Ukraine. Britain had been pressing the US to allow the use of long-range missiles against targets in Russia for months.
