A smaller proportion of women overall backed Harris this year than did President Joe Biden in 2020, with 53 percent voting for her; 45 percent cast ballots for Trump, according to a CNN analysis of exit polls, an imperfect science that nonetheless provides an initial look at the electorate. The same exit polls from the 2020 election indicated that 57 percent of women backed Biden and 42 percent backed Trump.
The CNN exit polls indicated that Harris lost support across all other age groups of women this year. The drop ranged from two points among 30- to 44-year-old women to seven points among 45- to 64-year-old women..
But women and men 65+ moved roughly equal amounts in favor of Harris as compared to 2020 and women in this age cohort remained more likely than men to support the Democratic nominee.

(28,924 posts)has lived their whole lives hearing how abortion is baby-killing. They don't understand that abortion is healthcare because they don't remember women dying from self-induced and backroom abortions. Even with the horror stories since Roe was overturned, which they haven't heard about in their Fox News bubbles, they still think voting for states rights to abortion will fend off a national ban. In short, they're brainwashed.

(9,265 posts)For a whole year many marched every weekend- submitting themselves to arrest for supporting Palestine. In many interviews, many said they were not voting for either candidate.
The youth spend more time on their phones and saw images like these every day for over a year and these are the mild images.

(37 posts)about Millennial men? Are you a Boomer? As a Gen Xer I have observed the younger men as more passive compared to their female counterparts. Metrosexuals, in other words. Man buns and skinny jeans--oh my!

(3,052 posts)squirrels with nuts, but the women issue the orders. One I know calls his wife, "She who Must be Obeyed" behind her back. Reason is that it's the wives who work and support the household. Most of the men are on disability and just sit around all day or go fishing/hunting together. Am sure they voted NO on Fla's abortion referendum. Don't think they worry much about pregnancy because they probably don't get that close very often.

(7 posts)Means more to this age group than the others it appears. Women 65+ know the difference between pro RvW and after. Among other things.
The erosion of rights is more pronounced for those who know how hard they had to be fought for.

(3,052 posts)Florida, DeSantis put on a full-court press to turn out the churchies against Amendment 4. Noticed in the two weeks before Nov. 5 that "NO to 4" signs had popped up everywhere almost overnight. We were outnumbered.

(86 posts)for anything. Everything was handed to them on a silver platter. This is especially true of those who live in blue or swing states. Well, now that I'm past the age where an abortion is an issue, I can sit back and let them fight for a change. They can fight for control over their own lives. They can fight for cleaner air, cleaner water. Let's see if they're up to the task. I'm not at all sure they are. Do I sound bitter? You bet I am.

(10,645 posts)which were great if you were a good old boy, but not so much for others. Job discrimination was legal:jobs were advertised as "Help Wanted - Male" and Help Wanted - Female". Women who married often lost their identities - and often their positions. If they became pregnant - even if married - they could be fired. Birth control was just starting to be legal and available in some places, but not all of the country.
Been there, done that, not going back.

(941 posts)Had only 2% more women voted for Kamala, that would have been game, set, match and she'd be President elect Harris. There is a serious discussion to be had here. But, I think that discussion is to be had among women of all ages and races, to share their experiences and educate one another. The GOP is out to control every facet of womens' lives, to drag them back to the 1950's and - in their dreams - to relegate them to the status of chattel. With these intentions on full display this election cycle, with Trump ending his campaign on the most demeaning of terms, repeatedly referring to Kamala as "stupid," the election results were nothing short of disturbing. Something like 7% or 8% more young women voted for Trump this cycle than voted for him last cycle. Are these young women speaking to their mothers, to their grandmothers? Who the hell are they listening to? And, how the hell could Palestine be higher on their list of priorities than their own damn bodily autonomy?

Man are they going to be shocked when MAGA comes for their Birth Control, access to IVF, etc. Kamala warned them of what was in Project 2025.
2026, we have to get our shit together and VOTE out MAGAs in the Senate and House despite what damage will have been done.
