The bipartisan House Ethics Committee met behind closed doors Wednesday on whether to release a report on its investigation of former Rep. Matt Gaetz, but the committee chairman said there was "no agreement" on releasing the report.
There was not an agreement to release the report, Republican Rep. Michael Guest, the committee chairman, told reporters as he left the meeting room.
A majority of the five Democrats and five Republicans on the committee must approve the report's public disclosure. In other words, at least one Republican must break party ranks to join Democrats to force its release.
Republican member Rep. David Joyce would only say that Guest and ranking Democrat Rep. Susan Wild of Pennsylvania are expected to release a statement. Other members refused to answer questions.
Before the meeting, Wild told ABC News a vote on whether to release the report was on the agenda, but wouldn't comment further.

That's the only question they ought to be asking, and ought keep asking with each non-answer.
"Why are you protecting a sex criminal?"
"Why are you protecting a sex criminal?"
"Why are you protecting a sex criminal?"

(3,052 posts)never charged for these crimes was that female #1, who had sex with him earlier, later walked by the pool and saw him having sex with female #2, and he didn't know #2 might be underage. That makes sense. Who asks age?
But I'm still stuck at what kind of people have sex at the pool in front of everybody who's just passing by? Or does the stud muffin Gaetz just yank it out when and wherever he gets the urge? It's like everybody accepts that public rutting is just normal, everyday behavior by a member of Congress.

(1,788 posts)If an "official" release is not allowed by Republicans, I'm sure it will get leaked by someone anyway. The information in it is just too explosive for people to just ignore it and let it be forgotten. Sooner or later, we will know the details.
