This won't get the attention it deserves because people are too hung up on other minor reasons for the loss.
The Trump machine somehow took a fat, balding pig with a combover... a former Democrat New Yorker who shits on a golden toilet and turned him into a hero to everyone from the dude at the drive-thru at McDonalds, the dude watching MMA on TV and the loser surfing the internet all day long.
Donald Trump is the antithesis of cool, if cool is defined by the likes of James Dean, George Clooney, Gal Gadot or Denzel Washington...
Gen Z literally... *almost* voted for Donald Trump. An 80 year old guy who couldn't find the on/off switch for an XBOX and probably needs help to set up his cell phone.
IMHO, a significant part of this is the Butler PA attempt on his life. That sparked the whole "Trump is a badass" thing online and probably iced PA for him...
People need to remember... the US President IS NOT chosen by a board of tenured Professors from Yale.
And look at history...
Clinton and Obama (POTUS for 16 of the last 32 years) were undeniably cool.
Any post-mortem that doesn't dig into this is incomplete.

Donald Trump is/was 'cool' in absolutely nobody's book. Just didn't happen. (no matter how one tries to contort the definition, or the support)

(15,917 posts)It'd make the JFK assassination conspiracy theories look sane...
Any proposal that the shooting was a "set up" is crazy.
So the deal was for Trump to be targeted center of skull and turn his head at the last second to make a graze wound?
The guy on the rooftop with his head "Gallagher'd" was just a crisis actor... ala Alex Jones mumblings?

That added doubt, for me, whether a bullet necessarily struck *him*. The freeze-framed bullet photo added credence to the notion that a shot was near enough to graze the ear. But the injury could've been from a bit of railing or a seat.
Nonetheless, it was enough drama to inspire some of his base to believe he was "saved by God to save the world."
