That map has been used whether Republicans win or lose to show that "most of America" is Republican. The best counter I have seen is a 3 dimensional map that shows population density putting "skyscrapers" in places like NYC. This makes the map show that the amount of red and blue are about the same - a far more accurate view. It also, with a little thought shows that they have more of the rural areas while we have the urban areas. Note, neither of these points are new, but the overall visual corrects the misleading visual of the map shown.
