what the fuck is up with Florida running the whole USA? All Trump's picks are out of Florida. We have 49 other states

(34,727 posts)I have been noticing that, as well. And, they want to install The Stupid One's wife as Litlle Marco's replacement in the Senate, too. I strongly suspect that his picks are out of Florida, because all of his closest sycophants reside near him. Because, that's what toadies do. They stay close to Dear Leader, and now they're being rewarded for their loyalty. But, if his previous installment is any indication, most of them will be replaced before the year is out.

(8,477 posts)Look for it happening when he get's his mob in heading up government departments. He has a very expensive operation of that white elephant and he can't re-coup his costs selling it on the open market.

(2,898 posts)In her will to be used as a kind of gathering place for diplomacy. It was expensive to maintain and security was a problem, so the government gave it back to the estate. In the 1980s, having bankrupted several casinos and ruined the Plaza, Donald Trump bought Mar-a-Lardo, and, following in the footsteps of his forebearers, set it up as a whorehouse. Anything of value was sold and replaced by cheap gaudy imitations. Renovations were done to document storage, and an omelette bar was set up.

Trump plans to bulldoze it all into the Potomac River.

(34,727 posts)Except that he doesn't really walk anywhere. Notice that we rarely see Trump, not even on the golf course. He's is terrible shape physically and mentally. He's only seen in public when he's in a lucid period. His imbecile oldest son is making most of the decisions. It's easier to cover up this kind of shit when he's in Florida, where they can more easily keep him out of sight than they can in DC. Keeping him at his dump in Florida makes it easier to pull a "Weekend At Bernie's" with him.

(80,320 posts)I don't think the voters care if Trump is in a straight jacket locked in a WH closet.
As long as the hatred and revenge keeps coming, they will be happy.
Yes of course Trump is not capable of making all these decisions so quickly.
He could not even read off the teleprompter or speak in coherent sentences in his rallies.
Someone else is doing all this work.
Don Jr cannot do it either.
He is high as a kite on cocaine most of the time.
And is not bright enough to select the specific candidates who will do the most damage
to their part of the government.
Someone is handing him the choices and he is going along with it.

I am assuming his billionaire minders will keep giving him an unlimited supply of

Kind of like Cheney did with BushJr. Sent cases of Jack Daniels on the regular.

That is how they operate here. If one of them gets in trouble, all it takes is a phone call to the right person and the justice process gets stifled.

(3,721 posts)don't consider it home, and have a "just looking after myself now" attitude. But several real grass-roots organizations have sprung up to combat that MAGA thinking--Support Our Schools to combat the Moms for Liberty christofascist public education takeover, the SEE Alliance to fight local school board takeovers by Moms for L candidates (they empower students, the actual consumers of public education, to organize and speak out) and the "we say gay" movement. There are others. The point is, the resistance is from activists on the very local levels. There have been successes--MAGA politicians now know they will be opposed when they try to take over school boards. And the young people who get involved on that level become engaged in political action--they see that their voices matter. Many stay engaged, and may help turn things around in future.
Anyway, at least J.Dingleberry Vance wasn't from here.

(11,077 posts)I'm worried about the opposite happening. The blueprint for crushing dissent appears to be accepted/expanding. (My daughter and former SIL graduated from New College in '85.)
Timeflyer
(3,721 posts)that they are the experts in, and if (if) there are motivated determined young leaders, and if there are some successes on the ground...the group SEE Alliance began when local DeSatan started Don't Say Gay, and his chosen lickspittle founder of Moms for "Liberty", the head of the local public school board, attacked an outspoken gay, minor young man very publicly online for opposing it, the fuse was lit. She attacked the wrong kid, the amazing Zander M., and he and his student supporters stood up and spoke up at local school board meetings--regularly. And then, the Lickspittle, Bridget Ziegler, and husband were involved in a very public scandal involving bisexuality and possibly worse.
There's nothing like nationwide exposure of hypocrisy involving sex to give that extra boost to a progressive movement (although that only seems to apply when women are the hypocrites). Because her role on school board directly involved children, local opposition to her and her ilk led to the defeat across FL of the many Moms for (say it) Bigotry school board candidates being defeated.
Granted, local school boards are way down in the political heirarchy, but MAGAts saw them as a way to infiltrate county, then state, then national gov't.
Jeez, didn't mean to go on so. But I don't want to leave the kids' futures in the hands of MAGAts, not without a fight.
rubbersole
(11,077 posts)...will take Vietnam War type in-the-streets youth protests. Over 1/2 the country didn't vote for this insane "mandate" they're claiming. Magats ignoring climate change could galvanize a lot of young people to be alarmed enough to get off the couch. I sure hope sooner rather than later.
