How Domestic Terror Attacks Helped Putin, Netanyahu And Bush JR Gain Popularity & Win Elections...America Brace Yourself

Netanyahu’s popularity reasonably sank in the immediate aftermath of Hamas’s Oct. 7 invasion and slaughter of 1,200 Israelis. But it began rebounding in late November. After National Resilience Party leader Benny Gantz resigned from Netanyahu’s government in June, Netanyahu steadily rose in Direct Polls tracking polls—leading Gantz and Opposition leader Yesh Atid Party head Yair Lapid by double digits in head-to-head matchups. In the intervening months, the gap between Netanyahu and his rival has grown steadily.

On Sunday, two days after Israel eliminated Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Direct Polls published the results of its latest tracking poll for Channel 14. It found that for the first time since Oct. 7, the parties comprising Netanyahu’s governing coalition have an outright majority in Knesset seats. If elections were held today, the government would be re-elected.

George Jr

Bush began his presidency with ratings near 60%. In the time of national crisis following the September 11 attacks, polls showed approval ratings greater than 85%, peaking in at 92%, as well as a steady 80–90% approval for about four months after the attacks.

The bombings, together with the Invasion of Dagestan, triggered the Second Chechen War. The handling of the crisis by Vladimir Putin, who was prime minister at the time, boosted his popularity greatly and helped him attain the presidency within a few months.

He can’t run for re-election, so an attack wouldnt help with that.

I dont think there would be a surge in blind support for Trump either, more likely an investigation on intelligence failures.

Ignore stare decisis? Absolutely.

Legislate from the bench? Everyday and twice on Sundays.

Interpret the intentions of the founders centuries later, within their ideological biases? Sure.

But to set aside the 25th amendment’s specific, concrete limits on the number of terms a president can serve?

That would instantly render the court irrelevant and powerless. If any amendment can be ignored or overruled, they all can.

They’re not going to do that, even under martial law.

Anyone who claims they will is not a serious, rational person.

If another 9/11 scale attack occurs on Trump’s watch, there will be a congressional investigation, and if any of the loonies were confirmed for intelligence, FBI or defense, their heads will be on the chopping block.

Trump’s term will end no later than January 20, 2029.

They chose to focus on the part of the amendment after the comma in the second amendment.

That’s quite different from ignoring a specific date or term limitation.

There’s no alternative interpretation of the date of January 20, or of a two term limit.

P.s. no need to shout.
