Trump has talked retribution and making the DOJ do what he wants. Biden was ABSOLUTELY justified

in pardoning Hunter. Whether or not you believe Hunter has been unfairly targeted in the past, Trump is leaving virtually no doubt that Hunter would be unfairly targeted come 2025. He's made it clear not only in his rhetoric but now also in his actions, e.g. trying to make Gaetz AG and choosing Patel for FBI. (Among others.) At this point, we are pretty much assured that Trump is serious about retribution, and that Hunter is on the list.

Sure, Joe said he wouldn't pardon his son. But circumstances change, and any remaining hope for a fair resolution essentially disappeared after November 5. Letting justice play out is no longer a reasonable position when you're on an "enemies list" of those in charge of handing it out.

Maybe the journalists and pundits who don't seem to grasp the danger Hunter faced would have gotten it if Biden had put Hunter's name on a very long list with the other individuals Kash Patel and Ivan Raiklin have promised to "get."

Then I think it would have been harder to criticize what he did, or pretend like it was done only because Hunter is is son. He truly faced onerous circumstances--it wasn't irrational to worry about Hunter's mental health. In fact he discussed this on some podcast a year or so ago (apologies--I wish I knew which one it was, but I heard a clip played on SiriusXM).
