"SNIP.............
House Democrats are poised to unseat several senior committee leaders, and Hakeem Jeffries is letting it happen, Politico reports.
Its akin to a mutiny, especially given Democrats typical deference to seniority in who leads panels. But party lawmakers are increasingly anxious about the incoming Trump administration and full GOP control of Congress. Many feel its crucial to have leaders who are proven fighters and can effectively push back on Republican priorities like harsh limits on legal immigration.

(1,135 posts)Not much you can do in the minority besides create a bit of noise.
The best option IMO is to find leaders (new or old) who can pick off a few Republicans to vote our way on some key issues.

(352 posts)I think some of the younger Democrats are listening to their constituents and hearing the outrage on social media that the Democrats are the party of wimps. The older long-term Democrats still have their heads in the sand. Jeffers has been a little too chummy with Mike Johnson and posting Bible verses on social media. He's not a fighter.

(492 posts)The old guard is really old, they need to step back and let the younger ones that are capable lead. Im 70 and Im tired, Id be happy to let someone else take over if they were able. Jerry Nadler is a good leader but he has to have been worried about who would take his place if he steps back. Now he can just do his job of voting and not have to lead or worry, the future will be in good hands.

(2,163 posts)One of the things I was so excited about was finally having someone of the younger generation lead us. Old white men have brought us here and we are tired of letting them run our country.
So, I agree with prioritizing youth and fighting spirit over seniority

(1,370 posts)I am so tired of the weakas* sh*t and dithering from the Dems ... surely they have gotten the hint that dithering is a losing consideration. They have dithered themselves and us into a hell bent situation for the next 4 years. The number and types of Concentration Camps we will all be in is alarming.

Our party lost control of the working class. We need to get it back. The answer is not to become more Conservative, quieter, and more passive. We need a new generation of leaders to energize the base and piss people off. We need to be louder and everywhere.
Anyone who isnt fighting Trump at every turn loudly needs to gtfo. Theres too much at stake now. Trumps going to fuck the economy, and, letting that opportunity go by would be insurmountably stupid.
