Disheartened? These people never gave up when faced with enormous obstacles.

And our task seems even harder, countering a media/bot army of lies and liars, and fascists.

Reposting with a new action message at the end.

John Lewis led the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and the crossing of Edmund Pettus Bridge, known as "Bloody Sunday," as state troopers brutally attacked marchers. Lewis suffered a fractured skull, and the events influenced the passing of the Voting Rights Act, which Lewis remained a staunch supporter of until his last days.

Did he worry what "pundits" thought?

Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss

Giuliani’s lies in support of former President Donald Trump’s bogus stolen-election claims subjected them to a torrent of racist and violent threats and turned their lives upside down.

Did they buckle under harrassment?

Ruby Bridges became the first Black student at age 6 to integrate William Franz Elementary School—a white public school in New Orleans—in November 1960.

Angry onlookers jeered at Bridges as she walked by

She showed more courage than most adults in our time.

Rosa Parks

In 1955, she was arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat for white customers.

And just one more.

Reverend Martin Luther King

"There is nothing greater in all the world than freedom. It's worth going to jail for. It's worth losing a job for. It's worth dying for. My friends, go out this evening determined to achieve this freedom which God wants for all of His children." — Martin Luther King, Jr.

Also, I'm one of the positive, look on the bright side people. My dad was a big fan of Zig Zigler. I'm a lot like my dad.

It’s just further proof of how valuable posts like this one are.

Really terrific! Full of good points, good ideas, and good strategic suggestions.

We have A LOT to get through, but get through it we MUST. And every journey starts with a baby step. And then another. And another. Until one day you realize you’re ahead by a few miles.

I never get tired of seeing this post and I bookmarked it this time.

Another source of courage for me is that I recently read a mesmerizing, powerful book about the murder of Emmett Till entitled "The Barn: The Secret History of a Murder in Mississippi" by Wright Thompson. I didn't realize that there were a number of critical eye- and ear-witnesses to what happened that night. Those people took unimaginable risk by stepping forward, telling their stories, sticking to them under immense pressure, and testifying at the sham trial. Some of them had to flee the area due to threats of violence. The book really puts you in their shoes so the reader can vicariously experience the pressure cooker of threat and trauma. And on top of that is the enormous strength and perseverance of Emmett's mother, which is justifiably and famously celebrated and honored.
