Looks like Musk's 'CyberTruck' is going the way of the Edsel....

On top of the $20,000 bundle of features and accessories that Tesla is adding to the Foundation Series Cybertruck, the vehicles also have special laser etched badging outside of the vehicle and Foundation badging inside on the dash.
Tesla is sending the Cybertrucks to service and collision centers around the US to have those removed in order to sell them as regular Cybertruck for $20,000 less.
Sources familiar with the matter also confirmed that Tesla plans to modify over 800 Cybertrucks to homologate them for the Canadian market and ship them to Canada, where Tesla believes they have a better chance to sell them.

Apparently 97% of reservation holders for these "Foundation Series" first-orders never committed to a purchase.

(5,449 posts)All I could was that someone had both very poor taste and was stupid to boot. I’ve owned trucks. They were good looking and useful. Stupid people with very stupid trucks.

(104,400 posts)That thing was beautiful looking inside and out. GM really did their homework. On top of being a functioning EV, it’s also a working truck on top of that. No need to give money to Elon and his ridiculous monstrosity!

(1,074 posts)I wonder how well they will cope with the frigid cold, ice, and snow. Probably not too well, I would guess.

(22,330 posts)Wide wheel base, very heavy, with the right tires they would probably be okay in the snowy cold.

(22,330 posts)It's obviously they were only made to look like they actually work.
Remember when the "unbreakable" windows were easily shattered during the on stage introduction?
Pathetic.

More to the point, there's a Tesla dealership not far from where we live. There were at least 30 Cyberdumpsters on the lot, maybe more. Back in September there were maybe six.
I need to swing by and pretend to be a customer and get a real count.

(2,592 posts)were never a utility truck. And let's face it, 95% (or more) of the ones sold were sold to urban people and the truck will never leave the pavement. I think Musk banked on that.
Anyone who actually uses a truck for its intended purpose could have (and did) tell people that this thing was never a real truck to begin with and couldn't possibly do much more than haul groceries or a TV from Best Buy. It was not built to do any real work. I also see a lot of these videos where the person trying to show you how the truck fails (example the one above trying to climb a slick hill), have no idea how to even do what they are trying to do, so it's a combination of both. the F150 couldn't make it up that hill either, without knowing how to do it, hence why it stays up on flat and dry ground to do the work.
Not to even mention how butt ugly that thing is. For some reason a lot of people can't help but to follow and mimic the latest fads and trends, and the cybertruck is or was nothing more than that. It was new and they insisted on having one because no one else did. It's all about getting attention.

(2,592 posts)are kind of like Apple/Mac folks, they are for some reason loyal to the death. I don't get it.
I've never necessarily been a Musk fan, but I also don't think he's the son of the devil. He's a pretty intelligent man when it comes to business. I can only imagine how well he could do if he would lay off the drugs.

(16,733 posts)I rented a Tesla once... hate the regen braking. Damn thing almost comes to a hard stop when you lift off the gas.
Plus I'm retired now so can't justify $100k for a car...
Back in 2005 I bought a new 911... the most I've ever spent but I was working like a horse back then.
