(187,222 posts)The House approved legislation on Friday to avert a federal government shutdown that was just hours away, with lawmakers extending funding into mid-March and approving disaster relief for parts of the nation still recovering from storms.
The vote came after Republicans stripped out a provision sought by President-elect Donald J. Trump to suspend the federal debt limit and spare him the usually politically difficult task of doing so when he takes office. The debt measure incited a revolt by Republicans on Thursday and led to the defeat of Speaker Mike Johnsons first attempt to extend government funding.

(10,644 posts)Because if it is, no, this is a good thing, because THEN these fools have to do this ON THEIR OWN, and we can just take the extra weekend off and be 'in our home districts', so to speak.
After Feb 1, I'm convinced that for most things, dems should vote PRESENT at best; let the clowns own the show because it's NOT OUR JOB to save the American Electorate from their own stupidity until AFTER they start voting us into Majorities that can actually WIELD POWER.

(1,739 posts)Why the Democrats (that's me too) are fading and fast: No one, NO ONE of standing in the House Senate is "messaging"...tRUMP killed the border bill and tRUMP killed the bill to keep our Gov. open, and what that MEANS to people. SILENCE. Disgraceful. NEVER proactive always reactive.
