(3,778 posts)We need to be aware of what wickedness comes our way in the hours and days immediately after the inauguration.

(18,923 posts)I have every intention of ignoring the iinauguration with all my might, but blocking all news for the rest of the week? No, just no. I don't watch or read nearly as much news I used to, but I don't see any point in cutting myself off completely from what's going on in the world.
Think. Again.

(17,308 posts)with SiriusXM satellite radio there's the Progress channel. There's UK news free and live on YouTube, along with news from Germany, France, etc... There's Al Jazeera, which is fantastic.
There's free streaming Free Speech TV. You can watch breaking news headlines on Google News 24/7 (or some alternative, if you are ruling out use of Google). I think what he's saying is we don't give our eyes or ears to the major networks or social media platforms like X and Facebook. Don't know his opinion of Bluesky.
I might glue myself to satellite radio that day and keep the internet off.
There are so many possibilities!

And so should everyone.

- Good time to catch up on laundry!
- Maybe this is the time to clean out your closet or sock drawer.
- National Geographic might have some interesting programming if you wanna watch something.
- Might be a good time to go see one of the new movies. Take a friend!
- If the theater is in a shopping mall, the mall itself can be an excellent distraction - for extended walking or, yeah, shopping!
- Valentines Day will be right around the corner. Send some love to a Dem you love!
- Is there a Democratic club office or party headquarters in your area? THATS a great place to find kindred spirits!
- Is there an Indivisible group in your area? Might be a good place to check out! Some people might already be getting fired up for Election 2026. And Ill bet theyd welcome some help!
- Know of any exercise classes going on at your local Y or some other convenient place? If the donald leaves you burning mad, burn some calories!

(18,923 posts)I'm on bluesky now, but I want to delete my Xitter account also. Only when I tried, it was so ridiculously complicated that I had to give up. It kept asking for more and more information that had nothing to do with my account on that site, and I refuse to share information about myself that Xitter doesn't need to know.

Here are 3 Resistance Acts we all can do on Jan 20. Use what I call FAFO, Focused Action with Focused Objectives.
1) BLACK OUT THE INAUGERATION FOR 100 HOURS.
-Do not watch, read or engage w/TV, Radio, Social Media or Cable fm 8am 20 Jan until weekend.
2) MASS DELETE TWITTER AT EXACTLY 12 noon on 20 Jan as Elonia holds VP Trumps Bible. Send Pres Elon a message. If 10-20 million subscribers blink out simultaneously. He will have a sad.
Power resisters: keep accounts so theyre not hijacked but do not engage the anger algorithm. Just stop using.
3) GET AN INAUGURATION TICKET AND DO NOT SHOW.
4) NATIONAL IMPERIAL MARCH BY KAZOO DAY. If SEVERAL thousand Kazooers mass the parade route and play the Imperial March badly, Trump will be so upset he will outlaw Kazoos.
THESE ARE TIPS THAT ONLY WORK IF WE DO THEM EN MASS AND SIMULTANEOUSLY.
As for the Kazoo. Do it anywhere you are in the country. Make a video and post it to blue sky.

(3,242 posts)by ignoring the inauguration and NOT do anything purposely ignoring the inauguration because if I do that then I'm not ignoring it.
I don't know what I'll be doing - It's a Monday, so in the morning I have a neuro-feedback session and a DBR session after that. I'll get back home, eat something, go through emails and paperwork. Maybe take a nap or work on my painting.
Play with the cats, read a bit. Check in here to see what people are saying - like I USUALLY do.
BTW, it's great to be retired!
Figure out what to make for dinner and shop for items I don't have on hand. Make dinner - eat it. Have a chat with my husband (also done at short periods during the day) Turn on Project Runway for some mindless watching. Get ready for bed, read some more..... In other words, nothing special.
It's a month away so the list may vary by then.
