U.S. Muslim leaders who supported Republican Donald Trump to protest against the Biden administration's support for Israel's war on Gaza and attacks on Lebanon have been deeply disappointed by his cabinet picks, they tell Reuters.
"Trump won because of us and we're not happy with his secretary of state pick and others," said Rabiul Chowdhury, a Philadelphia investor who chaired the Abandon Harris campaign in Pennsylvania and co-founded Muslims for Trump.Muslim support for Trump helped him win Michigan and may have factored into other swing state wins, strategists believe.
Trump picked Republican senator Marco Rubio, a staunch supporter of Israel for Secretary of State.
Earlier this year, Rubio said he would not call, opens new for a ceasefire in Gaza, and that he believed Israel should destroy "every element" of Hamas. "These people are vicious animals," he added.

the more powerful factions into uncomfortable compromises. The US is not a parliamentary system and all the Greens (for instance) have ever been able to accomplish is Getting Republicans Elected Every November. Third parties and others who want to show the Dems a thing or two have cost this country dearly, starting with Al Gore, who was a great environmentalist.

(8,608 posts)for dumps win when the far, far majority of the voters for him were the white Christians. Almost as if we have a big fucking blind spot to them doing bad and don't hold them responsible as a group, but them dang Palestinian Americans, they are the problem. Let me know when you get a clue.

knowing it was against their own best interests, just to show the Dems that the Dems werent the boss of them?
No, they arent. They had their own really stupid reasons for voting for Trump, including cult-worship. And nobody on our side says the white Christians are not responsible for the gigantic clusterfck we will all have to endure.
The problem with the Palestinian American voters, as I said above, is that as far as anyone can tell, they voted for Trump to show the Dems that the Dems couldnt tell them what to do. They KNEW Trump was a scorpion and they STILL voted for him. And now, they act surprised that the scorpion is hurting them.
The Palestinian Americans are a small group of people and did not bring about Trumps victory all by themselves. But they sure did make a wretched miscalculation about who, ultimately, has their best interests at heart.

(1,951 posts)White men, white women. I'm pretty discouraged that but for people of color the Democratic Party would be nowhere.
That doesn't stop me from being mad as hell when the leader of a group who claims Trump would not have been elected without him
has the nerve to complain when Trump does what he told us he would do.
Maybe if this guy had pulled his head out of the sand we all wouldn't be living this global nightmare.

(2,124 posts)are expected to vote for Trump. He's one of them.
The victims of Trump and his supporters' hate aren't supposed to join them.
Since I face no discrimination because of my gender, sexual preference or race, I take the chance of repercussions only because of my political beliefs. As a result, I can only put myself in jeopardy defending people who fuck themselves.
That's the point.
I definitely place a lot of blame on the Muslim population In MI & WI for Harris' defeat. They live in a swing state, FFS.
For sure, I revile the "Christian evangelicals" for putting Trump in office.
So - are you saying we should solely blame extremist white Christianity for his win? I think not. Heathen tanned people may not be solely to blame for this outcome but they sure as hell stood out as a group - who used to vote for policies aligned with their wishes. Or - what we Democrats imagined their vision of our country might be, we should have been allies. These communities stabbed Democrats in the back, imo
My only conclusion is - immigrants despise other immigrants. It was a major issue in this election. Our legal immigrants voted against their own. Since I'm not an immigrant, perhaps I should listen to the ones who voted.

(27,308 posts)why didn't Democrats tell us about this? OMG I'm never voting for a Democrat again!"
This is why the simplistic fantasy solution that Democrats just talk and give stern speeches to people will change anything is ridiculous. Talk is cheap.

(96,812 posts)for reagan, they never seem to learn that repeating the same action previously have consequences.
Harris made it clear what she would do. Ceasefire, release hostages, rebuild Gaza, and back to the negotiating table for a two-state solution.
They have effectively elected someone who will insure they will never be a two-state solution.
Whatever happens, I simply don't care anymore.

So I still care. Just not about the feelings of this particular group. Let them hurt at least as bad as we do.

In conversation with Haaretz Podcast host Allison Kaplan Sommer, Harel said that Netanyahu "kept promising total victory, what he actually had was sort of a Forever War. It was not forever, but he was waiting for November, and for January 20 and for his friend Trump to be back in the White House."
What is the Israeli premier hoping to get out of his bet? Harel believes that in renewing the Bibi-Trump bromance, Netanyahu believes he can win U.S. support for measures that will stop his criminal trial - Trump after all, will certainly sympathize - and move ahead with the judicial coup that will damage Israeli democracy.
In the security and military arena, the Israeli leader aspires to achieve "more aggressive goals in the region, whether it's striking Iran or persuading the Americans to strike Iran, or pushing forward against the Palestinians and against Hezbollah and Lebanon."

The Biden White House, for example, acknowledged this week that it is, as the Associated Press reported, weighing measures to help Palestinians living in the United States who want to bring family from the war-torn region.
Soon after, as Reuters reported, the presumptive GOP nominee shared his thoughts on the subject at a campaign rally.
Your towns and villages will now be accepting people from Gaza and various other places, Trump said, eliciting boos from the crowd. Under no circumstances shall we bring thousands of refugees. Last week, Trump described the pro-Palestinian protests as driven by tremendous hate while asserting that the violence at a 2017 white nationalist rally with some Trump supporters in Charlottesville, Virginia, when he was president was small by comparison.
Note, at one of his campaign events yesterday, Trump appeared to goad his followers in Wisconsin into booing Palestinian refugees.

At the same event, the former president also vowed to restore and expand the Muslim ban he imposed during his first term......
The former president also endorsed ongoing Israeli military operations, saying, We have to let Israel complete their war on terror. Its a horrible thing, but they have to do it. Trump added that Israel must clean out the cancer.
Lets also not forget a New York Times report from March that said top members of Trumps team want to expel Palestinians from Gaza.
Its as if the Republican is going out of his way to alienate voters who, given their frustrations with Bidens policy, might be inclined to give Trump a second look.
TFG will bring back the Muslim ban, give Bibi free reign to bomb and destroy Gaza and expel Palestinians from Gaza so that Jared can build his resorts.

(180 posts)It's bizarre that a Muslim investor is taking that responsibility on for the Muslim community. It serves no purpose except to separate us once again. Perhaps it is more stupidity on his part, or perhaps angering non-Muslims to blame this small voting block is the goal.
