Jimmy Carter was the first president I could vote for

He was a good man who rose to power following very difficult years for the United States.

His presidency was a mixed bag, mostly due to circumstances beyond anyone's control, but as a man and a leader, President Carter is without peer.

In one way, it is comforting that he passed away while President Biden is still in office because President Carter's life will be respected by this administration.

Rest peacefully, sir. Thank you for your lifetime of service to good causes.

by working at a phone bank for him in 1976.

Never regretted that vote and he always made me feel proud to be an American. He was an authentic human, full of grace, humble and a class act.

He didn’t cosplay his beliefs by mumbling a few words but he literally walked the talk and built the homes.

Few presidents in our nation's history have led more impressive lives post-presidency than Mr. Carter.

What a man!

He was the first president that I voted for after turning 18!

I was never more excited to vote for him and have never regretted it!

Rest In Peace, Mr. President.

I missed eligibility to vote against the dickster by less than two months. I proudly cast my first vote for James Earl Carter by absentee ballot, as I was active duty in the Navy.

Good man. In fact, it's hard to imagine a man with more character.

His presidency, particularly on the economic front, was hampered largely by demographic and social changes. Even so, comparing Carter's term to Reagan's first term shows a big advantage for Carter in nearly every important economic category. People forget that.

Where might this country be if we had continued with the policies President Carter had begun to implement during his presidency?

I thought he looked like a nice person. I was five.

I still remember after all these decades.
