In the 1980s it was "welfare queens" and then it became "the gays demand special rights" and there was always "abortion on demand!" Also, "communism!" And "terrorism!" work well.

While Americans have run around angrily decrying the latest liberal atrocity, over the past four decades the Republicans shifted most of the middle class's wealth to themselves. Then, they wrap back and blame that on Democrats too.

There's a humanitarian crisis on the border because people are fleeing crime and economic chaos in Latin American countries - many of those issues exacerbated by U.S. policies. Again, a complicated issue, reduced to "Kamala bad!"

the non whites that support it also have resentment against other groups. And it's just about them hoping others are harmed so they don't have to compete with them.
