That was around the time Trump officially announced he was running for a second term. DOJ was already investigating January 6 but handed Trump’s portion over to Smith due to Trump being a candidate. It was also only a year and some change after Biden took office.

Even one year, let alone 22 months, would have been far too long.

History is not going to be kind to Garland, especially if Trump and the MAGAts actually do put American democracy to the sword.
