For those upset w/Carrie Underwood's planned performance and want to affect her listenership on Spotify, click artist's

For those who are upset with Carrie Underwood’s planned performance at the inauguration and want to affect her listenership on Spotify, search artist’s name, then the three dots and click “don’t play this artist.”

I know it’s probably a tiny gesture, but sometimes we need tiny gestures right now just to feel good.

She and her husband are both big Jeez-oids.

And besides, she doesn’t need the money. Nobody needs the money that badly.

She’s definitely Maga

If she has a song I like I'll listen to it when I'm in the mood.

Same way I do with Kanye, Eric Clapton, Hank Williams Jr., and anyone else.

Of course I have the benefit of my not listening to Underwood starting with her first song, but it was bullshit when the right wingers boycotted The Chicks and it feels a little gross now.

The Dixie Chicks were blacklisted by virtually every country radio station across the US along with the industry boycott from songwriters and record producers. They received death threats and bomb threats that forced them to cancel concerts. They were heavily criticized by most of the US’s other country musicians. And they lost almost all of their corporate sponsorships.

Deleting Carrie Underwood off your Spotify playlist isn’t anything close to the same

I just learned about her politics and will do what I can to go all Dixie Chick on her. And I’ll encourage others to do the same. It won’t be the scale of the Chicks, but because she’s a conservative she’ll feel as persecuted.

I remember DUers here were asking other DUers to buy their CDs. I did buy a few. Underwood would not be affected if a handful of people do not listen to her music on Spotify,

I can’t boycott Carrie Underwood, because I don’t listen to country music, and couldn’t name one of her songs if you put a gun to my head.

Anyway, if I was going to listen to a pretty blonde country singer, there’s always Trisha Yearwood, who at least seems to be a human being when it comes to politics.

The kind of crap that Carrie Underwood puts out is complete drek. The closest thing to real country style music is being done by artists now classified as Americana.

..by God, I don't want to be on the highway with her either. But I do have MOST favorite country singer these days: Jon Pardi. Love his style and his music, even though I don't listen to much country music these days. This is Texas. If you're gonna dance, you're gonna listen to some country from time to time. We mostly ballroom dance, but the venues for that are limited.

"Barely Understood" or just "Farmbot." She sailed through based on her looks and certainly not on her dreadful vocal ability. She's been massively successful, but country music fans are not particularly demanding.

In my admittedly highly-prejudiced opinion, country music exists so that untalented people can have careers, too.
