A woman pardoned last week by President Donald Trump for her role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack was sentenced to 17 years in prison on Wednesday for her role in a deadly drunken driving crash.
Emily Hernandez of Missouri gained fame for holding up a broken sign bearing then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's name that was taken during the Jan. 6 insurrection. She turned herself in to federal authorities in 2022 after being identified as one of the rioters and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. Hernandez was among 1,500 pardoned by Trump last week.
A Franklin County judge sentenced Hernandez to 10 years for Victoria Wilson's death and seven years for Ryan Wilson's injury.
Hernandez had a blood-alcohol content of .20% after the crash, authorities said more than double the state's legal limit.

Middendorf entered a guilty plea in that case in May 2024 and was sentenced to 19 years in prison. He is currently registered as a sex offender in the state and remains in custody on those charges.

"The government's forecast of evidence is compelling and suggests Defendant engaged in sexual acts with two young girls in his own family," Magistrate Judge David Keesler wrote of the case against Daniel. "It is also alleged he took and kept photos of the genitalia of the victims. The mother of one victim (Defendant's ex−wife) appeared in court to request that Defendant not be released." Because of those findings, Judge Keesler ordered Daniel to remain in detention pending trial. Daniel has pleaded not guilty to the charges in North Carolina and that case remains pending.

(2,319 posts)I vaguely remember reading a lot about this awhile back and it was one of those tragedies that just seemed so pointless and sad. I think she was all of 22 when this went down? I seem to recall she was there with her family, parents, older siblings or something, was regretful afterward. Am I remembering the right one? I find it sad she threw her life away like this, the same way I feel when any very young person does something that can not be taken back that ruins their and other peoples lives.
The woman killed has two teenage kids, and I recall her poor husband was traumatized trying to save her. they'd gone out to celebrate their anniversary. So freaking senseless!!!

10 + 7.
The fact that they run concurrently doesn't change this fact, much the same way that she probably won't even serve the full ten years with how time in prison actually works.
But whether less than 10, 10, or 17 years in prison, I'm sure you're thrilled that a repeat MAGA criminal like her is right back in the slammer, yes?

The retired Green Beret from Tampa was sentenced to seven years on weapons charges.
Other J6ers with similarly unclear pardon situations include Homosassas Daniel Ball, 38, who was released and quickly re-arrested on a warrant for gun possession a charge that emerged from a search related to Jan. 6.
Dominic Box, who was awaiting sentencing for felony civil disorder, remains in the same Kentucky jail as Brown. While awaiting trial for his Jan. 6 charges, Box was arrested by a deputy who said he found him passed out in his car outside a Jacksonville restaurant.
Ben Martin, a California man convicted of illegally possessing eight firearms that agents found during a Jan. 6-related search, also remains in custody after his Jan. 6 charges were pardoned.

I think most people wouldn't give these pardoned J6'ers another thought. It makes trump look bad and that's why it should be publicized more.
For one, I am going to put a list and links together and mail it to Brian Lehrer, my WNYC talk show host. The only problem with that is that practically everyone listening is already a liberal. Still, if that gets millions of listeners talking about the topic, then it's worth the time and effort.
