Vaccines at Walgreens tonight- the LOONS you may encounter

I went for the mmr and DTaP I scheduled tonight. I don’t like this particular one because they are weird however it’s very close. I’m waiting on line. There’s almost no one there. There are four people working there and yet it takes forever to get anything done. The receptionist at the front is more interested in talking to everybody for a long time about personal things than just getting things done quickly while 3-4 people are waiting.

She looks at me and says are you waiting for a pick up? I said no I’m scheduled for 2 vaccines. She says hold on goes away, comes back and says to me “you can’t get two vaccines at once because you’re going to get very very sick…” Wth? I said to her loudly enough so everyone in the store could hear me: “ No, I am not going to get very sick! I’ve been getting two vaccines at once for the past several weeks and I didn’t get “very” sick. You’re crazy!” 😹 in addition their website lets me schedule up to three vaccines at once if I want to.

So she tells me to sit and wait for a while and someone will come to help me. eventually, nobody comes, but someone softly calls my name from the behind the counter. I go over and she’s gathering information from me.At some point, she starts attacking me and grilling me about things. I can’t remember what the first one was now. Then she starts asking what is my reason for getting the DTAP? I told her three times and she couldn’t hear me so I said again loudly enough so everyone in the store could hear, why I was getting it. She tells me to sit and wait again. I got the feeling she was trying to do anything she could to try and stop me from getting any vaccine!

Finally, the woman who is going to give me the vaccines calls me over and we had a somewhat weird conversation, but she seemed ultimately pro Vaccine to me although I don’t know if she was the one who tried to scare me into only getting one vaccine.

She says to me, so why are you here? And I said to her I guess you know why I am here since you have the vials, etc. for my vaccines. 😹 and she says oh well we have to hear you say it so we know you understand what’s going to happen, what the hell?

I said I’m here to get MMR and DTAP. Then I said you can show me them, etc. if you like so I can make sure that you have the right vaccines. 😹

So she shows me the MMR and a vile of solution to dilute it. And the D tap is in a box. First, she gives me I think MMR, which is a 3 mL and which hurts more. And then DTAP which is easy.

I was discussing the vaccines etc. upon her questioning me why I was getting these vaccines and mentioned that there have been outbreaks of measles here due to people not vaccinating their children, but she says “really” and I said yes really. Then I mentioned there was also an outbreak of whooping cough, which she had heard about.

I said the polio vaccine was going to be the hard one because I called CVS and they said they can’t give it to me according to their protocol- so now I have called my doctor and I hope she will approve it for me. I said I am not going to wait until we have a polio outbreak due to the craziness here which she agreed with. I just want to get it now so I don’t have to worry about it.

Anyway, then I thanked her and went on my way. I’m really at a loss for the craziness that I am encountering here. It’s not like I have never encountered craziness in the medical field before, but this is really just getting scarier by the day here.

Not only are they imposing their own personal views of vaccines. They are spreading misinformation and probably scaring people from getting a vaccine at all and not getting two at one time which is safe. They already did that to my brother yesterday because he went there to get RSV and another one and they would only give him the other one, they wouldn’t give him two. And they told him the same story… then they wouldn’t give him RSV at all they said because he didn’t qualify for it. However, he looked it up and said that he did so they told him to come back. I said we are never going back to that particular pharmacy again for a vaccine.

I’m going to be making a complaint. Unfortunately, I did not ask who was the person who said to tell me that I’m going to get very very sick from getting two vaccines at once.

So now I am a little worried if am I going to be able to get the polio vaccine. After this I only have to get shingrix. I just wonder if there are any others that I could be eligible for that I should maybe get as well before March.

So don’t let yourself get bullied and frightened out of getting your vaccines if you encounter people like this.

I get my shots at the same Walgreens for the last 20 plus years and this year I got my flu and new covid shot..forget what they’re calling it these days but I got both on my appointment in the same arm. I do need a tetanus shot, tho. I’ve never had a problem before but if I do, I’ll strongly suggest that try another profession if they have problems with vaccines.

Sat Feb 1, 2025, 12:42 AM
Feb 2025

I had mine so long ago I don’t remember which ones I had. However, I also read that they may recommend it if you are traveling to areas where you may be exposed or if you were exposed. Anyway, I’m going to argue with my doctor that because of the craziness here that I could end up being exposed to it and I don’t want to wait for an outbreak when I may not be able to get a booster, etc. if she won’t approve it I’m going to do my best to get it somewhere else.

You have to understand that vaccines do not last forever. For instance, if it’s over 50 years since you had the original vaccine, you should get a booster. You can get titres to see if your immunity is low, however, my veterinarians have told me for my cats that they are not reliable to tell for sure whether you/ they have real immunity. In addition, I think it’s a lot more expensive to get a titre (and it has to be approved) than it is to just get the vaccine booster. Most vaccines have time frames for how long they are supposed to last. I was just discussing this with a friend about shingrix…. It’s supposed to last 7 to 10 years.

Yes, agree anybody in any capacity in the medical profession and some other professions should do something else if they have issues with vaccines- certainly they should not be in charge of administering them to other people if they’re going to be trying to scare them, etc.

I was talking about the pharmacy workers trying to scare me by saying I can’t get 2 at once because I was going to get very very sick if I get two vaccines, which is false and which is a scare tactic which we don’t need to enable. Their tactics didn’t work on me because I pushed back.

Yes 3 may be too many for some as it was for you, or ok for others. I have found that two are actually fine for me. And I’m glad I’ve gotten almost all of them done now.

Maybe the reason you were never told that is because you were not living in a country that is full of a bunch of lunatics who are now not going to vaccinate their children ( and who will be allowed and encouraged to do that), and because it was pretty much eradicated here due to vaccination.

You are not living in that same country anymore.

Normally, in the past, I usually get one at a time because I tend to get very achy from them. However, I knew there was no way I was gonna be able to get all of the ones I need before the lunatic takes over and tries to stop us from getting vaccinated. I have gotten two at once before in the past.

I got the pneumonia 20. About 10 years before that I got the other pneumonia shot and the flu shot at the same time one in each arm that was a mistake because both my arms froze. So now I always get them in the same arm, I tell them to put one of them in the front of my shoulder and one in the middle. It’s less painful that way.😀

The odd thing is that other than my childhood vaccinations I never got any vaccinations until after I became type one diabetic and became super high risk. And then I started getting the flu vaccine and the pneumonia vaccine etc. I did get the occasional DTaP because of needing the tetanus. I also never had the flu in my entire life until after the second year I got vaccinated for it. My brother did not get vaccinated and brought it home to me. Never coughed that much in my life. The coughing was so awful and I had a very high fever. I didn’t go to the doctor until three days later and she said I had flu B. So I guess it would’ve been a lot worse if I had not had the vaccination… I could’ve been hospitalized.

I'd not been vaxed between childhood & covid. Never had even a flu shot, but I get one yearly now. And I've always had 3 at a time in one arm. Never any reaction till this new pneumonia one. That hurt like the old fashioned tetanus shot in the ass I git as a teen. Yea, I was hobbling around for a few days after that one. Lol

I've not had the flu since my kids were little, thankfully!

I was complaining to the doctor though about how did I get the flu when I finally got the vaccine for it lol 😹 Yeah I think the first pneumonia vax I had was pretty bad too…. I did not feel this one was as bad though. I don’t know maybe I’m just getting more used to them. The Moderna causes the most muscle spasm for me. I remember my beloved kitty guardian stayed with me that whole time when I felt achy. That tetanus shot sounds horrible. I remember getting some thing in my rear once , but I forgot what it was now. 😹😹

There is a new treatment for type one diabetes, currently being tested, which entails getting tuberculosis vaccine. So I may be doing that in the future on a regular basis, who knows.

Sat Feb 1, 2025, 02:05 AM

...different people are going to react differently.

We always go to CVS and have never had the kind of issue you mention, but we've been lucky to have a really great pharmacist that helps everyone out tremendously, never loses his temper no matter what stupid shit comes out of their mouths. I live in deep south Texas and we get tons of Winter Texans from up north (Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, etc) every winter. They are here in droves right now and they always have Rx issues.

My wife and I got two vaccines about a year ago (an influenza and pneumonia IIRC) and she got very sick from them, while I had only mild discomfort. Neither of us will do two at once again, even though Biden's CDC said it was ok.

We just scheduled our next COVID shot for February 7 at CVS. They let us set it up on the website. Our last COVID was August of '24.

Trump is fucking everything up, pretty much as we expected, but worse. I'm getting some indications online that even MAGAts are thinking WTF is Trump doing, but they won't come right out and slam him.

But that doesn’t mean the pharmacy workers should be telling me I can’t get two at once because I’m going to get very very sick. That’s false.

I’m not sure what most people consider to be very very sick, but I consider that to be when I have a true emergency usually from being a person with type one diabetes and I end up in the hospital because I can’t manage it at home etc. not because I feel ill from vaccines, etc. or when I had Covid double pneumonia, could barely breath, and I didn’t know if I was going to survive or not etc. or when I was first in dka and had multiple complications.

I’m sorry your wife was worse from having two vaccines at once. I’m glad she’s OK. Best then to schedule only one if you’re worried about it.

In the past, I would usually only do one at a time because I get pretty achy from them. However, I knew I had too many that I needed and I wanted to get them all done before these loons try to stop us from getting vaccines at all. Now I know two is fine for me.

If rfk jr loon gets in, it is going to be catastrophic.

I think my doctor will approve this because I’m not that far from these areas where the polio virus has been detected. The updated recommendations since June 2023 is adults should get a booster if they are in an area where they can be exposed or they travel to an area of exposure. A booster is recommended if it’s over 10 years since you’re full series. A full series is recommended for adult adults if they never had the full series.

... hence, the verbal confirmation. I've been in the hospital twice in past two years, and they don't even take your vitals without checking your wristband AND asking your birthdate every.single.time. just to avoid mistakes. Sad to say, mixups HAVE happened, so an abundance of caution is not misplaced. You don't want to end up like the woman who was supposed to have her cancerous eye removed, and the surgeon removed the wrong eye. Several years ago a surgeon introduced the idea of marking up the patients with Magic Markers while they were still conscious and coherent -- "cut here", "leave vein intact", etc. -- so that there won't be a mixup between the time the first anesthetic is injected and the actual cutting begins.
