New resignation emails have been sent out with added fine print and stricter terms. Some contracts now require employees to work through February 28 before being placed on paid leave by March 1, contradicting earlier claims that no work would be required.

The contracts also acknowledge that funding is only guaranteed until March 14, with future payments dependent on Congressional appropriations.

Employees are encouraged to seek private-sector jobs but must comply with agency ethics rules and waive the right to pursue legal or union-supported claims related to the offer.

(41,580 posts)It is complete insanity.
I really hope that most federal employees are rejecting this ruse.

(2,189 posts)They have been consistently early and reliable with intel. A lot of which is not reported elsewhere.
Waive the right to pursue legal or union-supported claims related to the offer? What? I hope no one is that stupid.

(41,580 posts)The NPS, due to the hiring freeze, is now unable to secure what is called "Seasonal Staffing." These are people who work on a seasonal basis for the NPS year after year. They make a career out of it, working during the tourist season. Each year they apply over again for positions in the National Parks. These are the people who keep the parks clean and prevent vandalism, run summer programs, and help keep tourists safe. Without these seasonal workers, the National Parks will be unable to accommodate the millions of Americans who vacation in the National Parks during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Americans can now expect limit access and even partial closures this coming season due to a lack of staffing.
This is not only going to ruin the plans of those who visit the National Parks every year. It is also going to bring economic disaster to the communities that surround the National Park that depend on tourists renting hotel rooms, renting camping and adventure equipment like RVs, kayaks, and canoes, eating in restaurants, and shopping.
