...and the lives of their families.
I saw a Democratic Senator say on TV yesterday that some Republican Senators have privately said that they fear for their lives if they cross Donald Trump. They are fearful of what he might ask his MAGA supporters to do.
This is serious business. When our elected Senators and Representatives are too fearful to do what is right because they fear the retribution that might follow, including losing their lives.
(I do not recall the Senator's name)

For all the Alpha Male posing on the right, they sure are fucking punks when they have body guards and the FBI at their disposal.
I think they fake fear out of cowardice in revealing that they are all for the bigoted attack.

(12,523 posts)Just like Jan 6. Those Republicans and their families would still be in danger. So what is their motivation to participate in this plan?
as President, Trump has been given permission from his Supreme Court to have his enemies killed.
And, those doing the killing for him, would be guaranteed pardons.
If Trump was no longer president, his feckless fucked up followers would be subject to the laws of the United States without the
promise of pardons.

You have members of law enforcement who have to get up and do their job regardless of the danger. If you're a coward who can't handle it then you need to find another career. I for one am not going to be intimidated by a bunch of low IQ morons who put their orange cult leader above the constitution.

(5,428 posts)It's easy to imagine someone who feels they have "nothing to live for" or someone who just *snaps* and loses their mind after having lost everything else.
People who are desperate, angry, backed into a corner and feeling powerless are... well, they're a bit unpredictable, aren't they.
The 2nd Amendment and the solutions it offers (encourages?) against tyrants and those who enable/support tyrants would make a lot of folks nervous and fearful, I imagine.
If only there was SOMETHING those fearful politicians might be able to do to improve things. Hmmm. It's right on the tip of my tongue... I just can't think of it right now. It'll come to me later.

(4,126 posts)These people took an oath to the Constitution. In a situation where they are being threatened to disobey that oath, it is even more important to honor that oath even if it puts their personal safety in danger. The fact that they refuse to do that tells us how little respect Republicans have for the Constitution.
