Once again we have people dragging our Dem leader for their OWN failure to give him what he now needs to stop Trump

...and it comes with performative expectations which would, presumably, ultimately lead to a motivation of US, the American people to act against the republicans who CONTROL ALL BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING THE SUPREME COURT.

I watched Rachel Maddow's interview with the Dem House leader last night, and I thought, why did she bother to spend so much time questioning the Dem leader about how HE was going to stop the republican majority.

Think about that for a minute.

The party with the most seats in Congress (republicans) has a voting majority.

They have the exclusive power to conduct congressional investigations, control the gavels, agenda, and votes of committees which allows them to direct hearings to demand and subpoena information. They also have the exclusive power to impeach.

The majority party has the exclusive power when it comes to drafting chamber rules, and in deciding which bills the House will consider and vote on.

The Rules Committee (with republicans holding the majority of votes) controls what bills go to the House Floor and the terms of debate.

The makeup of the Rules Committee has traditionally been weighted in favor of the majority party, and has been in its current configuration of 9 majority and 4 minority members since the late 1970s.

Here's the thing. These Dem leaders have made many, many more substantive appearances than whatever clickbait, idiotic questioning teevee journos can manage to elicit out of their ten minute opportunity.

They have access to what our Democrats are actually doing, it's not a secret, or as perplexing as the furrows on Rachel's brow when she asks stupid questions like 'wow are you going to stop Trump?" asking of a party completely out of power and authority.

And journos like Maddow know well what the limitations are of a House and Senate minority, facing off against a republican majority advantaging a republican White House.

Fucking by now, Maddow and the rest should be long past this cloying, disingenuous demanding the Democrats we managed to elect do what they know well they don't have the numbers to effect. What a sham.

You can just imagine our Dem leaders listening to the Maddows out there still demanding the party out of power roil the election results, and wondering when, if ever, they are going to cover the events and advocacy that our legislators and leaders have been effecting all along without a mention by the very same press.

All the while, whingers whinging are busy pretending like their inanities and sophistries about Democrats are supposed to represent advocacy against republicans.

Look at the obfuscation, delays, derailments and effective opposition of Senator McConnell when had 47 Republicans in the Senate.

Sorry, but I think Maddow was on the right track, asking the right questions.

I don't see Republican red herrings and assertions of fraud that are false get challenged.

...so what is this magic shit Dems are supposed to do?

And I'm not expecting people who think criticizing Democrats for what republicans are doing in the majority right now is some sort of brilliant political strategy to have even looked to see what Dems have said and are doing.

And I'm not lying to myself that these same critics will ever do anything to promote what the Democratic leadership is saying or doing. They haven't done so far.

Nothing in these criticisms to suggest they will EVER cover or post ANYTHING ANY DEM is saying or doing, but I have. I do it daily. I mean, you can't get these critics to even mention that republicans are pushing forward a budget plan as we speak, on the floor of the House.

No mention from them that Democrats will vote unanimously against it, having no power at all to stop the thing on their own votes, and that republicans hold the votes to pass the thing.

So why do you need me to tell you what's hapopening right in front of you?

Did you miss the part where we lost the majority? No, you couldn't have mised that, huh?

And lookee here. you're presenting this canard (lie) that Democrats should be able to do what the republican minority did in blocking bills.

First refutation of this lie is that this isn't the same Congress, not the same makeup.

Secondly, it's a lie that Democrats can procedurely or otherwise block the republican budget on their own votes or initiative.

Thirdly, Senate Democrats have a filibuster provision to advantage their opposition, not the House Democrats.

Last Senate majority had TWO centrists who liked to vote with republicans to make up a razor-slim majority. Again, a situation which some people think is a perfect moment to troll the party for not getting this or that done with the nothing Democrats sent them there with.

Senate Dems actually blocked the FIRST republican bill of this Congress, ONE DAY after Trump was sworn in:

Senate Democrats block GOP’s ‘born-alive’ abortion bill - 01/22/25
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5100557-senate-abortion-bill-born-alive/

Republicans vote unanimously for the worst things, for abhorrent things, because, there is no principle in what they are voting for. Be more like republicans? Wtf?

and it being a consequence of what people voted.

Especially since there are shitty people that I think vote Republican becsuse they are assholes. They don't want to see a black woman as President. But I seriously think there are certain things where they expect democrsts to protect them from what they voted for.

...and it's not like the words slam shut the door on republicans just by uttering them.

Witness.

If critics spent more time looking to see what Democrats are saying, not just what clickbait press and clickbait posts say about them, they wouldn't come up with silly stuff like this to question them with.

It's easy to bash out of power Dems for being ineffective, like that trifle wasn't already apparent to anyone with half a clue about the difference between a minority and a majority.

I mean, ffs. Gaddamn fuck sakes...

Hakeem Jeffries says Trump could be illegitimate, a Russian asset or "useful idiot"

"Let's take the first step in terms of the full disclosure of the report and the underlying documentation," Jeffries said on "Face the Nation" Sunday. "The American people deserve to know whether Donald Trump is either: A, a legitimate president; B, a Russian asset; C, the functional equivalent of an organized crime boss or; D, just a useful idiot who happens to have been victimized by the greatest collection of coincidences in the history of the republic."

Then whining: whatabout The Passion, The Energy, THE PERFORMANCE like the shouty revolution people who hate Democrats? If only Democrats were defeated and destroyed as the true roadblock to progress, utopia!

Midterms coming up, trash Democrats until potential voters are cynical and disgusted and won't vote for them. Disgust for imaginary enemies is the most important thing in propaganda!
