Last night I avoided Trump's speech, I followed along on DU.

Then, I saw nothing but criticism of Democrats.

Something ain't right.....

Were they supposed to go all Jan 6th or something?????

Yeah, there seemed to be very high theatrical expectations of Democrats from a group who mostly didn't watch it!! LeftInTX Mar 2025 #3

Rep. Al Green was sensational. A perfect response to the moment. Duncan Grant Mar 2025 #5

1. we may indeed have successful embedded trolls.

2. the media and that means all stations/ all newspapers...they are hammering this shame and belittle the Democratic message on every talk show, news cycle ...trashing Democrats signs at the speech for example...

3. we have limited discussion posting....copy paste a link is common now...and the information to link is not in great support of Democrats essentially...

Lets all think before we post anything that does not focus in a proactive fashion....yes, criticism is an evaluation tool which can point out the need for change.... we need to be adult and responsible.

Today I’ve seen Tim Walz and Pete Buttigieg speak simply and forcefully about working in the trenches to stop the effects of the stupid policies, keep relationships with the rest of the world at least hopeful for the future, and maybe run for office and mentor others to do so. It’s far from giving up. Elise Stefanik sounded great. Jasmine Crockett, Ilhan Omar and Bernie are stepping up. The idea we should do just what they’re doing but somehow it’s okay because we’re in the right is crazy. There’s a long continuum between that and just lying down.

If I had high theatrical expectations of Democrats, I certainly would have watched it myself!!! However, I had no illusions or expectations.

I just wanted to avoid domineering, bullying asshole.

The overwhelming majority here on DU said beforehand, that they would not watch the orange menace's speech!!!

Thank you for watching and posting!! Thank you to all who stomached the orange menace, so I didn't have to!!

I agree, it's the "after reaction" that matters.

Haven’t you noticed? Since the election, with odd names and usually low post counts. They try to stir up shit etc. it is up to this site to control that and not just with a tos/ alert system. I used to be a moderator on a health board. I finally got fed up with all the trolls there because the board never did anything to stop them, so I stopped doing it.

That said I saw support for what was done and also valid criticism. Valid criticism and what that is may be something people disagree on but it should always be allowed on a democratic forum. People who make valid criticism and comments on their opinions should not be scorned and alerted. They need to be listened to and acknowledged imo.

I actually watched the last part of it myself, and I made comments on what I heard. That was in a reply to someone else’s post here. A lot of what the Dems did was not even on camera because of the way this was filmed.
