General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI believe strongly that there are very powerful, non-fascists in this country, in fact, in the world,
that are NOT sitting around with their thumbs up their asses just watching all of this unfold without a plan to do something other than protest this nonsense.
People with ways and means to put an end to this.
People who understand the gravity of all of this tripe.
People who take history seriously.
And that's about all I am allowed to say here.

(2,937 posts)they are saving our allies, they are saving Ukraine, they are saving the world from economic collapse. This is not just one single country crying out for help. This is Nazi Germany happening again and guess what? The world does not want that. Its centered here, but it is not contained here. It is everywhere. Gaza is not to be transformed into another failed trump enterprise after ethnic cleansing. Canada and Greenland are not up for grabs. This is global. We arent looking for aliens to solve this, we arent fantasizing. Citizens of the world have a stake in this. Look at the bigger picture.

(3,782 posts)fact that Trump got re-elected made talk of a deep state seem pretty empty. If there were one, how could they let the Russian asset take power again.
What I left unsaid is that, like you, and Lucky, I hope that somewhere there are
strategic, high level communications taking place. Almost can't fully grasp the
potential for disaster, here and abroad, if that's not the case.

(12,164 posts)But all those people are helping TSF too.
The American people are the only and last line of defense and most of them will sell this country out for $500 check.
Bookmark this comment: TSF will flip most Americans to supporting him by sending out check for just a couple hundred bucks. Most Americans will let him do whatever he wants to them for not much more than a fancy night out for a family of four.

(443 posts)it will have to be the Republicans in the House and Senate who will join the Democrats in impeaching and removing Trump from office.
Are there any powerful non-fascist Republicans who will help us save the country?

IMHO this realignment with Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and other authoritarian states is a shield against non-support from traditional alliances and traditional seats of power. He's all in with brutal oligarchs who won't stop him...he's immune to pressure from western seats of power.
He can tell everyone to f*ck off, except those who have offered to divide up the world with them and become history's richest and most powerful rulers.

(12,556 posts)The protests proliferated into the hearts and minds of many and spread like wildfire. A counter culture was emerging and the squares couldn't keep up with it. How to counterattack it? Drugs and squash/silence the messengers.. Suddenly even record companies had to behave like fascists; e.g. telling CSNY what to do, as songs were very powerful with their messages.
People are protesting now in many places and there is a chance the experience will radicalize them in the true sense of the word "radical" (the root) not this bullshit term for reactionaries wrongly applied.
Yes other things sprang up. Earth Day was a wonderful example.
When we heard things such as I did "The United States today owns and controls 2,270 foreign military outposts, stations and bases." NYT quoting the GAO back in the 60's, you do not have to be of Macedonian ancestry to know the USA long ago ceased to be a nation and has been an empire for over 125 years. And those stats do not even include clandestine operations or undeclared war operations.
Still many opposed those fucking undeclared wars merely so they could not be placed in harm's way. Soon the RW war mongers would switch this huge anti-war movement into pro POW sympathy by constantly pounding that drum. (End of rant, sorry!)
