House sneaks in provision in CR to surrender authority to block tariffs

Republicans snuck a provision into the rule for the CR that would preemptively surrender congressional authority to block tariffs.

When House Republicans vote for this rule today, they will also be voting to support Trump's tariffs and all the resulting damage to the US economy

Also, if those mofos are so ready to surrender the power of the legislature they should fucking get different jobs. NOW

Normally, I do not favor shut downs, but more than my distaste for putting federal workers off the clock (which Elon is doing already, I despise blackmail.

screamed far and wide and mightily! All they are voting for his shutting down everyone else's paychecks. Do they care? Hell, no! If their money isn't affected, why would they care? Take away THEIR salary, and ALL their perks... just like us... during a government shutdown. If they want to change government to make it more efficient and get rid of all that fraud and waste... well, AFAIC, it starts with THEM.

It's "unearned income" which has enough loopholes to never have to pay taxes of any kind. Always thought that was backwards. Earned Income should be tax exempt because it was done by the sweat of your brow or via the cortisol coursing through your body while trying to do a job with a micromanager hanging on your every keystroke.

Unearned income, which to me sounds like "gifts" and the like should be taxed at the highest rate. One didn't earn them; they were given to you, either via handout, bribe, or digital "paper."

trump probably insisted on that clause or else he'd primary them... or kill their families... or catch them in a "compromising situation." republicans have no idea how to govern, they have no idea what the constitution says, and they don't care as long as they end up on trump's most favored list.

They've been giving away their power for decades, in small and large ways. One of the largest was the one where only Congress has the right to say we go to war. The got around that by not having the U.S. go to "war" anymore... we just do "state actions"... hmm... sounds amazingly like Putin's name for the Ukrainian War.

And go right to the House steps and refuse to govern until Trump is removed from office. Just sit there. They need to tell America that if the House Republicans don't want to do their Constitutional duty, they need to immediately resign.

This is complete nonsense and one party can't give away Congress's Constitutional power to block tariffs. Jesus. Fucking. Christ. At this point. Its very obvious that most Republicans ARE NOT IN FAVOR OF THIS.

If they want to give up their authority I say give up your paycheck. While we’re cutting government waste let’s start with a body of government that appears willing to subjugate itself to the whims of the President
